Iris clenched her sword and got up from the floor. He raised her sword and swung it downward, cutting one of the beasts, leaving a nasty gash on its leg. *Roar!* The beast growled angrily and jumped into the air, landing right on top of Iris and pinning her down onto the hard cold rocky floor. "Aah!" The beast dug its crawls into her shoulder and Iris felt its slimy drool spill onto her face. "Yuck!"
The beast opened its jaws and roared ferociously at her face, its' stinky breath almost knocking her out. Iris wiggled, struggling to break free from the wild beast's grasps, but couldn't. "Ugh..." Iris tried kicking it in the stomach, but that only seemed to make it angrier. The beast closed its mouth on her head and Iris really thought that it would be the end for her right there and then.
To be food for a bunch of hungry beasts. What a horrible way to die... As much as she didn't want to die this way, she couldn't do anything about it. The idea of her body getting torn into pieces by them frightened her even more than death itself, and she could only hope that it would be a painless death so that she wouldn't suffer for long. But knowing these beasts, they were going to eat her alive, slowly ripping pieces of her body off until she bleeds out.
Iris closed her eyes and braced herself for death, all the while begging for someone to save her. But she knew that it wouldn't happen. It wasn't like a knight in shining armor would conveniently appear out of nowhere and slay all these beasts and save her. Iris waited for death to come but it never did.
A loud metallic sound silenced the room followed by a plopping noise. Iris opened her eyes and found the beast lying on the floor in front of her with its head gone. Blood spurted out from its neck and Iris had to shuffle out of the way to avoid getting drenched in it.
"You're alive!?" the thief exclaimed, his voice filled with both shock and confusion. Iris looked around and her heart skipped a beat when she saw a cloaked figure standing beside her. In his hand was a giant black blade that was darker than the almost pitch-black room they were in. His cloak was covered in saliva but he seemed to be fine nevertheless.
"How!?" The thief, Iris, and Wompa, all three of them were just as shocked to see Kies alive. They all looked at him, waiting for him to give an explanation, but he simply nodded his behind him, revealing that all the beasts which had been trying to eat him were dead. Every single one of them had their heads cut off.
Kies turned his attention back to the thief, who was now speechless after seeing what just occurred. "What... Why didn't the... Ugh!" the thief let out a cry of frustration. He raised his bow and said, "I don't know how you did it, but I presume that it has something to do with that sword," eyeing Kies' huge blade. He fired an arrow at Kies who deflected it easily with his sword.
Kies pointed his sword at the thief and charged at him. The thief continued firing arrows at Kies until he completely emptied the thing. Kies deflected all of them with his sword and closed the distance between them. He swung his sword at the thief, forcing him to move back to avoid getting cut in half. Kies didn't let up the attack and relentlessly slashed at the thief, pushing him back into the wall.
Kies thrust the sword forward, aiming at the thief's torso, but he jumped up used the blade to boost himself and jump over Kies. The thief pulled out a knife from beneath his coat and slashed it at Kies' neck. The blade slid off the cloak, not even leaving a small cut, making the thief even more confused. "What?"
Kies turned around and kicked the thief in the stomach, sending him rolling across the floor and into Iris. "Iris, do it!" He shouted at her to finish off the thief before he could get back up.
Iris lifted her sword, her arms aching in pain from the wounds she sustained having been pinned down by the beasts and brought it down on the thief's head. The attack barely missed its target with the thief tilting his head last moment to get out of the way. He kicked Iris in the leg and spun back onto his feet.
Before the thief could do anything, Kies came behind him and swung at the thief with his sword, aiming at his neck. The thief saw it and ducked his head, once again avoiding an attack that would've killed him had he been just a second slower. The thief jabbed his knife into Kies' stomach, only to have the same result as before. The knife slid across his cloak, leaving the thief wide open for an attack.
Since his sword wouldn't reach in time, Kies planted the palm of his free hand onto the thief's chest and called upon the winds to gather. "No!" The thief saw what Kies was doing and grabbed his wrist. "D*mn it! Do your job!" the thief yelled. All of the sudden, an electric field shot out of the thief, disorienting his winds just like before.
Kies clenched his teeth and ordered the winds to obey him. There was a lot of resistance, but the winds slowly soared to his palm and condensed into a ball of death, all the while the thief screamed at the top of his lungs, trying his hardest to pull Kies' hand away.
"Goodbye." A concentrated bolt of winds pierced through the thief's body.
"W-what... But I... I- I failed y-you... Co- mand... der..." Those were the thief's final words as he stumbled back and fell onto the ground with a thud. For a moment everything was silent. That strange electric field was now gone. The winds around him were behaving normally.
"You... killed him..." Iris slowly said while staring at the thief's body, blood pouring out of the gaping hole in his chest.
"Yes... Yes, I did." Kies let go of his sword and the weapon disintegrated into black particles, returning back to the glove on his right hand. He looked around the dark room again which now reeked of death. Other than the three of them, there wasn't a single living thing in the place.
Iris tried to get back on her feet so that she could go over to her sister but she couldn't. She tried with her all might but her legs were too weak and she couldn't stand up. Kies went over to the princess and helped her up. "Thanks..." Immediately, Iris stumbled over to her sister who had an arrow in her leg and couldn't move at all. Kies went over to the torch on the floor which was now almost a stub and picked it up. He brought it over to the two girls and kneeled down, bringing the torch right over Wompa's leg so they can see how bad the injury was.
Kies picked up one of the arrows on the stone floor nearby them and placed it over Wompa's leg to compare the length of the two so that they can see how far the arrow was in. From the looks of it, only the arrowhead was in. "Do we pull it out?" Iris asked.
"Give me a second." Keis went over the thief's corpse and tore off a good portion of his shirt, making sure to take the clean part. He brought it back to the two and sat down, placing the torch on the ground next to them so that he could see what he was doing.
"This is going to hurt," he gave Wompa a heads-up of what he was about to do. Iris took her hand and squeezed it, letting her know that she was there for her. Kies grabbed the Iris and yanked it out in one quick go. Wompa's face tensed and her body shook in pain. After pulling the arrow out, Kies quickly applied the bandage on her leg, making sure to wrap it tightly to slow the bleeding.
"Done." It wasn't the best treatment, but it was the best they had at hand at the moment. After they made it out of here, they can find a doctor... Or maybe even a mage to heal the wound, since he knew exactly where to find one.
