Carson

After Blake had invited me to help him set up I came up with a plan. I want to go over to his house right after school and set up for the party. School gets out at 3:10 and takes about 4 minutes to walk home, Blake's baseball practice ends at 5:30 and takes him about 10 minutes to get home due to talking and taking off gear. I know I sound like a stacker but its just what I have noticed. Before my fourth and last class I texted my dad the plan, he said he would text Blake's mom and to see if Andrew could help me with it. I ran home after school and cut my time in half which gave me two extra minutes. I started as soon as I got there because if I would have waited for Andrew we wouldn't have started until around 4:00. By around 4:30 we had the chairs set up outside, pool, floaties, and the living were all done. The only thing we had left to do was set up the bar, beer bong, and get the snack table ready. By 4:57 we had everything but the bar done but Andrew said he could handle it and so Blake's mom and I went outside and had some tea.

"I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your mom. It's so kind of you to become friends with Andrew after what had happened."

I didn't expect you her to bring up my mom and to be honest I started crying a little. "After my mom died everyone at my old school had started turning on me. I found out that all my friends only liked me because of my mom. By the time freshman year had started I had no one and I started to cut. For my sophomore year my dad homeschooled me but all that did was make shit worse, I'm sorry for my language. So instead of sending me back to that school we moved. He had a better job offer here anyways so it wasn't a big lose, in fact it worked out better for both of us. Even though I don't have any friends here I can tell people are more welcoming and less judging. I'm hoping to become Blake's friend and to be honest I kind of like him which is weird to tell his mom that but hey who knows right, but I bet he doesn't even like guys."

"You never know until you try right. As his mother I think you guys would be amazing together but I don't know if he likes guys or not. I will tell you that I am for sure cheering you guys on."

"Thank you, can I ask a question?"

"Sure honey go ahead."

"What happened to Blake's dad? I'm sorry if that is to personal I was just curious."

"I divorced him when Blake was about 13 because he abused him. For several years I had no idea that he was doing. I know how stupid that makes me sound but he would never do it in front of me and every time I would ask Blake where he got his bruises he would tell me and his teachers lies about them and he would always keep his stories straight. One day I had came home early and neither of the boys knew it and I heard him yelling at Blake and then I heard a loud thud. Blake told me that they had just got into another fight and that when he went to storm off he fell. That weekend I sent him to his grandmothers, who he told everything to and never lied to her. I told his father that if I found out that he was beating him we were getting a divorce. A few minutes later I got a call from his mother telling me that I needed to divorce him and that she was calling the cops on him for child abuse. I haven't heard or seen from him since but I still talk to his mom to this day and we still love her like she is our family."

With how happy and carefree Blake always seems I would have never have guessed that. It makes me wonder if he isn't so carefree and happy and if really he is wearing a mask and even tricking himself in the process. I didn't know how to responded to this and I felt really bad about it.

"I know you probably see the carefree and happy side of Blake and he wants to believe that's the real him to but really he just needs someone to show him that its okay to love someone again. Ever since then he wont even open up to me or his grandmother. Neither of us know what to do and I'm hoping that maybe you can help because if I'm honest you are the first person he has invited over before a party or just invited over to began with."

I defiantly didn't know what to say now I just looked down into my tea. Next thing I know I hear his mom just say, " It's nice to see you finally talked to Carson. I never thought you would grow a pair and do it." She started bursting out in laughter and I couldn't help but laugh but I tried to hide it.

"Dude your mom just told you to grow a pair. Don't worry dude it doesn't destroy your man hood. I bet if my mom was still here she would have said something similar."

"May I ask what you mean if your mom was still around? Did she leave or something?"

I say this question coming everyone always asks me. "She died when I was young. A drunk driver hit her. It may sound weird but him and I are actually pen pals and still talk. He no longer drinks which is good."

"I'm so sorry to hear that. On a less depressing note you ready to get started setting up?"

"Actually walk inside I hope you like it." I was super nervous when we showed him what we did, but he seemed to like it.

"Thank you so much for doing this Carson. I don't know how I could ever repay you."

In my brain I wanted to say you could repay me with a kiss but instead I said, " You're and no need to repay me it was no big deal, my pen pal I was talking about, helped me out. Blake meet Andrew he will be managing the bar tonight and also help me make sure no one drives after drinking or any fights happen." I walked over to Andrew and hugged him and I was shaking so bad that he hugged me back. I stayed in his arms a little longer then normal to hopefully make Blake jealous and to calm my nerves.

It was 5:23 and the party didn't start until 9:30 which still gave us a lot of time and I hadn't even gotten ready myself but I didn't want to leave to get ready yet. Out of no where Blake just says, "Can I cut your hair?" I pulled out my phone to see if my dad was okay with it and he said he was so right in the middle of him trying to say sorry I just say, "Sure, you any good at cutting hair?"

"I'll do it, Blake has never cut hair except in the first grade when he cut it his own and didn't turn out so good looking at all. Lucky for him though I went to school for this." His mom piped in.

He had grabbed a beer at some point I guess because he chugged whatever was left of it. "Don't get your own party stars now honey. Are you to do this Carson?"

To be honest I wasn't at all. My hair was one of the few things I had left of my mom but you know it was just hair. Worse comes to worse if I regret doing this then I can just grow it back out. My hair was all the way down to my butt so yeah it made a lot of since why everyone assumed I was a girl. "As ready as I ever will be I guess." We headed outside and when I sat down I felt something grab my hand and to my surprise when I looked it was Blake so I gave his hand a little squeeze and just held it.
