Chapter 6

LUCKY WAS looking at the invitation that Mrs. Jones gave her the other day for quite a time now. She's hesitating if she would go.

She did promise Winter that she'll attend her birthday party.

She sighed.

She had to show at the birthday party, she did promised. She did not want to disappoint the child.

She looked at the wall clock.

1 P.M.

The party will start at two.

She quickly stood up from sitting on the sofa then took off her clothes and went to the bathroom to take a bath.

After taking her bath, she chooses her muted pink off shoulder dress that reach her knees and pair it with white-pink flat shoes.

She combed her shoulder-length hair, put a little lipstick on her lips so she wouldn't look pale.

She finished making herself presentable at exactly 2 P.M. When she left the apartment, she took the car out of the garage of the apartment building and carefully drove to the Bachelor's Village where the birthday party was to be held but first she went to the toy store to buy a gift.

When she arrived at the Bachelor's Village, she showed the guard the invitation and immediately let her in. She still had to ask directions to people who are in the Village just to find the Jones's house.

It's a beautiful huge mansion.

She stared at the front of the mansion for a few seconds before she walked closer to the open door. She was still far away, she could already hear the laughter inside, the children singing and shouting in happiness.

She was shaken to enter but she thought that Mrs. Jones to invite her personally and she promised Winter so she took the courage to enter.

She entered the mansion.

"Teacher Lucky!" Winter greeted her. "Good afternoon!"

She bent down to align their faces. "Happy Birthday, Summer." She greeted her and gave her a gift.

"Thank you!" Summer's response kindly then she held her hand and pulled her to the living room where her Mother was and was talking to the guests. "Mommy! Mommy! Teacher Lucky is here!" The child said excitedly to her Mother. "She's here! She's here!"

A smile immediately drew on her lips when she faced Mrs. Jones.

"Thank you and you attended the party." She smiled at her.

"My pleasure." She answered while still smiling.

"Follow me?"

She nodded. "After you."

Mrs. Jones accompanied her. They headed to the back of the house where the swimming pool was and guided her to sit at the vacant table there.

The was a crowd. She's feels awkward but she did not let the other people see it. A smile remained on her lips.

Mrs. Jones pointed where the buffet table is. "The food is there. You can go there to grab some food or just call the waiter to bring it to your table."

"Thank you."

Mrs. Jones smiled at her sweetly. "Enjoy. I'll talk to you later, okay? Enjoy the food."

She nodded again and thanked Mrs. Jones again.

When Mrs. Jones left, she took a deep breath before standing up and walk towards the buffet table to grab some food to eat. When she got back to her table, she was distracted by the men gathered at a round table and drinking beer.

Her eyes settled on only one man.

Jayden.

He's drinking beer with everyone but he doesn't look like he's enjoying himself. He seems as if he was deep in thought.

She averted her eyes before he notice her staring at him and then she started eating.

When she told Jayden to leave her alone, she mean it. She did not want to risk her health for him. She won't allow it just like that, she won't risk it. She has to be extra careful for her to survive as planned.

But as time went on, she regretted what she had said to him. She's getting sadder and sadder everyday because she haven't talked to him even though his apartment is just besides her.

But she is also afraid of harming herself.

She sighed and then was about leave the swimming pool area, so she can not see Jayden when she heard a loud sound.

She immediately looked at the source of it and she was surprised to see it coming from the platform with a band and Jayden was there, standing in front of the microphone while staring intently at her.

And for some reason, her heart feels weird.

She couldn't take her eyes off Jayden who was still standing on the podium and was now talking on the microphone.

"Calling Jacob Smith, Taylor Jones and Kayden, my man, come up here. Help me. Come on." It looks like he was drunk while speaking.

She then looked at the three men who climbed the podium and then took their places behind the instruments.

Someone was sitting behind the drum set, someone was holding a guitar and Kayden was holding the base guitar.

"Yow!" One of Jayden's colleague shouted from the round table. "Don't mess up. You're supposed to pay for all this when you lost in tone!"

Jayden grimaced and showed his middle finger at the man who shouted. "Fuck you, Murell. Go to hell."

The men with him laughed as if they did not care about Jayden's swearing.

"Ahm," Jayden cleared his throat into the microphone, "I know this is a children's party but there's no children here as of now, so let me sing a song for my adorable gummy bear."

Her eyes widened when she realized what he means.

Is he gonna sing for her?

She tightened her grip on the spoon and fork and then looked down at what she was eating. She pretended to be

busy with her food but her ear, was listening to what Jayden was doing.

Why can't she completely avoid him?

'If life is like a jigsaw, where would you start. You think you got the picture. Like it's written on your heart. You lay out all the pieces. One by one. But if you stare at it too closely. The answer never comes.'

'So I take a breath. Cause I need time to figure this all out. I got lost inside. What I thought I need. But I understand now.'

When he hit the chorus, Lucky can't help herself. She looked at him and his eyes met hers.

'Cause I don't need the sunlight, shining on my face. And I don't need perfection, to have the perfect day. I just want to see you happy, a smile on your face. Nothing else matters cos you're everything to me…to me…to me'

'You're everything to me'

She thought he would continue singing but he just left the podium then took a beer to the table and entered somewhere which caused her to lose sight of him.

And Kayden took Jayden's place in front of the microphone.

"Let's pump it up." Kayden said on the microphone and then started playing the song that anyone could dance to.

Lucky was stunned because Blaze's voice was very baritone and very sexy to listen to especially when he's singing.

'Just when I thought that's in it all, she steps to the floor. Pushin' me up against the wall, she stand to control. Give me what u got in store, girl I'm begging for more, whine me until I overdose.'

The people there stood up and danced.

'Oh we know how to party, so pointy, so whine oh. Every move we do will get you, closer to be mi-i-ine.'

'I been waitin so long oh, you be teasin me baby. By the end of this song oh, girl you better be ready.'

Lucky held her breath when an arm encircled around her waist and then gently pulled her upright and turned her around.

Her heart was beating so fast when she saw Jayden and their body is touching.

He's so close.

She was stunned and her breathing seemed to stop when he turned her around and hugged her from behind then placed his chin on her shoulder.

She could smell the liquor in his breath.

"Y-you're drunk."

"Am I scaring you?"

She shook her head. "No."

His hug tightened around her waist and her heart thumps faster than normal.

"Jayden, I'm hyperventilating." She said chasing her breath.

He released her from the embrace then grabbed her hand and pulled her away.

She just realized that they were in a garden and Jayden guided her to sit on a swing.

"Feeling better?"

She took a few deep breaths before nodding and looking at him. "Jayden, I'm serious when I told you to leave me alone ---"

"Let's talk." He seems like he's begging. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'll be very careful. I promise. I just ... I just want you to talk to me again."

She stared at the man pleading, with his eyes also staring at her.

She sighed. "What do you want to talk about?" She asked in a low voice.

She wanted to be calm as possible as they talked. She can not be affected by the two of them talking.

A few seconds of silence passed before Jayden spoke. "I'm sorry."

She stared at the man. "Are you really?"

"Yes." Jayden crouch in front of her while holding her knees to balance himself not to fall. "I am."

She was upset again when she remembered him throwing her gummy bears away. "Did you really throw it away?"

"Yes."

Her lips trembled. "Is it that worthless?"

"No. I was guilty over something in my past and your gummy bears reminded me of that."

"I do not understand you." She shook her head as she looked down. "What does my gummy bear has to do with that? I was just being nice to you, Jayden. I don't mean no harm. I just feel so stupid because I gave you my last stocks. I love my gummy bears so much then you, you just throw it away. "

"I'm sorry." He apologized again. "I won't do it again, please just talk to me."

"You won't really do that again because I won't give it to you again." She said and was about to leave the swing when Jayden stopped her.

"Stay."

She shook her head. "I can't. You're bad for my health. My heart is too fragile, Jayden. I am not allowed to feel bad. My Grandparents, they'll be devastated."

"I won't hurt you again."

"How sure are you?"

"Hundred percent."

"Liar."

"Lucky ---"

"It's not that I don't want to forgive you, or that I don't like you, or the gummy bears. It's what the Doctor said, stay away from people who displeasures me ---"

"--- I won't displeasure you again ---"

"--- and I gave you my favorite gummy bears because I want you to have a positive outlook in life, is it that bad that you have to throw it away? I don't like seeing you grumpy. Is it wrong for me to like you smile? "

He smiled. "Like this?"

Lucky eyed Jayden suspiciously. "You can't fool me doing that."

His smiles widen more.

She narrowed her scrutinizing eyes on Jayden. "Have you been eating gummy bears?"

Jayden frowned at her. "Why?"

"You're sweet and it's weird." She replied.

"I bought two packs from the store. Do you want to buy you some?"

She pouted. "Are you bribing me to forgive you?"

"No, of course not."

"Liar."

Jayden chuckled then his face turns serious as he stared at her. "I'm serious Lucky, how many gummy bears would it take for me to be forgiven?"

"So you are bribing me!" She rolled her eyes at him then tried to stand up but she stopped by him again. "Jayden ---"

"You said I displeasure you, okay, let me make it up to you and pleasure you--" He cleared his throat while his eyes keeps dropping to her breasts, "I mean, let me pleasure you in a away to atone for what I did. "

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Why can't you look at me? Are you lying?"

"Heavens, no."

"Then look at me when you say that you'll pleasure me."

Jayden gulped before looking at her in the eyes. "I'll pleasure you."

"Why are you looking at my booby?" She and glared at him. "You're thinking about the other 'pleasure' aren't you?"

"What? No ---"

"Don't lie to me. My heart ached ---"

"Yes. I'm thinking a different pleasure, happy?"

She shook her head. "No. You're a pervert."

He looked at her, frowning. "So I'm the pervert now? I'll just remind you that your finger trailed on my skin and on my tats and you have no fucking idea what I felt that night."

"Don't curse at me." She said in a low voice.

"I'm sorry."

She still eyeing him suspiciously. "Why are you talking so long now?"

"Because I want you to talk to me and smile like before. It's been two weeks since you told me to leave you alone. I don't know why I can't stay away from you. I missed your smile."

"You hurt me."

"I know, and I'll make it up to you.

"How?"

"I'll do whatever you want."

"If I forgive you, how can I make sure you don't hurt me again?"

"Because now, I know how fragile your heart is. I won't break it, I promise." He grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "I'm still trying to figure out how to be nice, it's not my forte, but I'll try my hardest. I won't sugarcoat baby, I'm a bad ass, but I'll be a good guy for you. "

"Why are you frowning?" She noticed the emotion on his face. "You seem disgusted?"

"Because it's not me, I'm not a good guy. I'm a bad man, I kill people."

"Yeah, you killed my gummy bears and gummy worms."

"No. I seriously kill people."

She ignored him and her mind was thinking and traveling somewhere.

If she forgives him, there is still a possibility that she will be hurt. But still, she has been sad these past few weeks because she is not able to talked to him.

She likes talking to him. Just like now.

She looked at Jayden. "What if my heart hurts again because of you?"

"It won't."

"How can I be sure you won't hurt me?"

"I like you, and I don't hurt the person I like."

"As a person or as a woman?"

"Both."

"What does that mean?"

"I respect you as a person, and kiss you as a woman."

"No kissing." She said quickly then took a deep breath. "When I forgive you, will you teach me to cook? " She wanted to learn to cook deliciously like him.

"Yes."

"You're not being forced?"

"No."

She frowned. "Why did you go back to the short answer?"

"You're talking to me now."

She pinched its nose and then stood up and at that moment, she did not hold back.

"Lucky---" Jayden quickly followed her and held her hand, "Come here, let me hold your hand."

She snatched her hand that he's holding. "Why would I let you?"

He smiled. "Because you like me."

"As a person, yes." She pointed out, "But not as a man." She added before leaving him in the garden then returned to the swimming pool area where they came from.
