Many questions hovered in her mind. Rash's words made her logic more confused. She spoke slowly, "What exactly do you want to know?" Her entire life over the past two years is between bed and wheelchair. So she didn't think there was enough reason to ask about it.
"How exactly did you become handicapped? You were not born like this, as it appears from the picture. How did your family become poor after being rich in the span of two years?" These are the two things he wants to know. How can a small doll monster transform a family's life to this degree?
Calling her handicapped and poor in this way without taking into account her feelings made the girl silent for a while. Even though she conceded her destiny, hearing others say it about her simply made her sadder. But she cannot expect kind words to come from the mouth of a sneaky person. She is just praying he won't do anything strange to her. In the end, she is just like a lump of meat on the butcher's table, helpless and awaiting her fate.
She sighed inside, trying to avoid angering him and clinging to the last hope of his words which may also be false. She answered honestly, "It was all my fault. Since I started learning abilities at the age of 10, I have been training seriously every day. I strived for more power so I can protect my parents one day. I was in a hurry and because of that, the conflicting capsules I took paralyzed me. At least this is what the doctor said."
At the time, she never thought this was exactly what happened. She did not use any additional capsules and was strictly following her training schedule. Knowing that if you consume more capsules than you can handle, this will cause harm. This is something everyone knows and abide. Before you take any of the six capsules, you need to make sure first that there are no prior effects left from the previous doses.
This made her confused, but the doctors' words after examining her case indicated that a conflict had occurred in her body cells. And this is likely the only reason. She did not want to believe the matter at first, but after two years and the many trials that she had gone through, she only believed that it was her fault.
Rash found it plausible that she did not know the full story. But how did no one notice the doll's involvement in the accident, despite the splendid development in technology? And how did Nightmare get to know all of this despite always being with him?
"After that, my father tried everything he had to treat my condition, but all the attempts failed. He lost all his wealth to secure the treatment expenses for my entire life. Unfortunately, I had another accident when the house we moved to live in, burned down. Then my father had an accident after that, and this is what happened."
She did not tell him her father's fate from the accident, because she was still finding it difficult to accept. Other things result from these reasons.
Rash understands what happened now. The doll only caused the first problem, paralyzing the girl. The other thing is just the collection of events after it. He didn't comment on things much but guessed her father's fate, saying, "My condolences for your loss."
Although he has never had a family in his life. He understands how the loss arises from losing a parent.
Heidi found it strange. She did not expect him to respond in this way. His words made her feel more hopeful. Despite that, she said nothing afterwards.
"In fact, there is something I wanted to reveal to you when I came to this place. You know about Gallus, Right?" The girl nodded. Rash continued his explanation as he walked toward the door to lock it again. Because of his rapid entry, the door was fully open. "There is a misdiagnosis of your condition. The reason you were paralyzed was a Gallus monster that had merged with your plastic doll. I am not sure how it happened yet, but there are dormant cells of that Gallus monster in your body now, that will make you a potential host in the future."
This result did not come from Rash, but Nightmare had explained the situation to him on the way here. Heidi has dormant cells for the same monster that they previously killed. This method of reproduction is called parasites. The dormant cells slowly consume the host body until they wake up to take over the control. Often, the target will not notice the matter and even when the cells wake up, noticing it is difficult, but it is certain that the monsters formed from this method are more difficult than others in dealing with them.
The news came to Heidi, who was listening carefully like a thunderbolt, preventing her from even responding, "What... What do you mean? ...does that mean I'm a monster now? ..."
The news did not make her happy because she was not the reason for what happened in the past, and all this was not her fault. She even felt that things were much worse. She can accept her condition, accept the burns and paralysis, live with difficulty and be a heavy burden on her mother. But to turn into a monster. This is the hair that divided the camel's back.
Rash comes up again to stand beside the bed, "Well, right now the cells are still asleep and the time it takes to wake up cannot be determined so you are still human." This is what Nightmare said at least, because he does not know the genuine danger of this condition and even his appraisal skill failed in identifying the difference.
Hearing his words didn't make Heidi relax. The first thing that came to her mind was her mother. Her mother is a normal woman and has not been trained to use abilities in the past. What would happen if she transformed into a monster one day and harmed her mother?
Her panic and concern about her mother made her sweat. How will she tell her mother now, and how will her mother accept the situation after hearing the story?
But above all. Is what the intruder said true? How does he know many things that doctors could not discover? And why is he telling her all this now? What is the real purpose for him to come here?
All these questions left her even more confused. Uneasy about what might turn out to be, and tried to muster up her courage. She asked him to find out more, "Excuse me... who exactly are you and why are you telling me all these things now?"
"I'm not sure if you've heard of my name before... but many people call me Laughing Jones these days." Rash wasn't crazy enough to tell her his original name, and he didn't pick the name in vain either. This was one of the conditions for completing the mission, although he asked Nightmare why he chose this name, but Nightmare told him to think about it himself.
Heidi, who had been hoping to come out unscathed from this ordeal, her hopes faded upon hearing the name. She felt that her world was pervading more than ever. She could not see, which made her accustomed to the darkness, but now her body has become cold and woeful. The girl wanted to cry, even scream and beg, but she knew it would never help her. She was not afraid of death, but rather what she would experience before that happened.
The young girl, despite her paralysis, was aware of many matters and current news. Luna, her AI, tells her many things to reduce her loneliness. Recently there is a lot of news circulating about the serial slayer, the child killer, the laughing Jones.
Heidi never expected that her end would also come at the hands of that person. She wanted this nightmare to end as quickly as possible and lost all hope for survival. She began praying in her heart that her mother would not come soon and face mortal danger.
Rash also knew who Jones was, so it baffled him about the true purpose of Nightmare's request. Not to mention that if anything goes wrong, and he gets caught, he does not want to imagine what will happen to him as a result. He followed Heidi's behavior carefully. She was terrified, her face as pale as a blank sheet. Her breathing fluctuated, but she did not say a word.
"Have you heard of my identity?" He asked her when he saw her silence, and she answered him with a feeble gesture, full of hesitation. Knowing the reason didn't stop him from continuing his mission, he asked again, "Do you think I'm going to hurt you?"
She couldn't answer this time. She wanted to say no, but the girl couldn't fool herself. Rash asked again, "Tell me what you feel about your current experience?"
"If you were me, how would you feel?" She answered him with a question from her, "You can't describe it in words, and you have to accept everything though. The inability to counter and resist. You are just a burden on others. This is how you will feel."
"You're right. I also thought the same." He remembered the helpless moments in his life. And he knows what it means. But he was very far from Heidi's condition, as he could fight despite losing every time.
Nightmare made him notice a lot of things in just a short time. Both missions involve different victims, each with their own struggles. Is this also one of his goals behind this mission?
Rash sighed to himself, pulling out the mission's second object to look at the specified time. There was a lot of time left though, but he didn't want to stay here any longer, "The other answer to your question, I came here to get rid of the remnants of that monster. Do you have anything else you want to say? "
How can she believe him after learning that he is the laughing Jones? She knew that her end was near, so she remembered her mother, asking him for a favor, hoping that there was a little compassion in his heart, "Can I leave a message for my mother, she does not have anyone else in this world and I do not want her to grieve for my death..." before completing her request Rash interrupted her flatly, "It's unnecessary."
Rash expected the girl to get it wrong, but he didn't explain it further. But Heidi understood it in a completely different way and became more anxious because she thought Jones was targeting her mother too. She can accept her fate, but her mother is another matter. She begged, crying for the first time, "Please don't hurt my mother..."
"You don't have to worry about that. Now you have to drink this." He opened the cap of the bottle and brought it close to her mouth. She did not know what this thing was, and she wanted to resist a little more. Rash saw her hesitation and said, "If you really want your mother to have a better life, drink it calmly."
He threatened her with the mother because it had the strongest effect. Heidi opened her mouth and drank everything in the bottle, right down to the last drop. Rash didn't stop until he was sure that she had swallowed the liquid completely. Then he said the last thing Heidi heard, "One last thing, when the interrogators ask you about it, let them know my next message. The thing you are looking for is in my possession."
She did not understand what he meant by his words, and the pain in her body gradually rose. She felt that every cell in her body was being torn apart, and she couldn't resist so much to lose consciousness at once. Rash saw what happened, but didn't lift a finger though.
His mission here is over, so he left in the same way he got in.
