Chapter 43 (Josephs POV) Ready Soon

There she stood, as she could see the hand of Julias holding in to mine. Thankfully she did not say a word about it though. She then looked away as she saw that John was also right behind me. She cracked a bit of a smile on her face, once she had seen him.

John as I could see from the corner of my eye, did not hold the same grin that she did. I knew that he was not a big fan of her at all. He knew that she was a great warrior, and she was amazing at hunting, and killing. He could care less about what she did behind the scenes.

I looked over at Julia, as I could tell she was not smiling. She had seen the look that Zoe had when she had seen me, and I could almost see the jealousy in her gaze. It was almost as if she had read her thoughts, and she had known what we had done.

I felt a bit sick, but I did not say a single word about any of it, as it was a bit of a sore subject, and I regretted it, now that I knew that Julia had in fact been alive, and there was no way that she had been messing around with other men.

I closed my eyes for just a few moments, as I tried to shake all of those thoughts from out of my head. It was a bit hard, as I knew what I had done, and I knew that I had in fact made a huge mistake. I was just so lonely, I could not help it.

I then opened my eyes, as I looked over to her, as she began to speak, but thankfully, she was not speaking to me. I listened to what it was that she had to say anyways, as we were all in the room, and clearly it was not something that she wanted private.

"I was hoping that I would be the first one here, but you beat me to the punch!" She said to John. I then looked over at John, to see what his response would be to what she had just said to him. He had a bit of a blank look on his face, but that was normal for him, so it did not bother me.

He stared at her for a bit longer, as he then eventually began to squint his eyes at her, as it was clear that he was telling her not to try anything foolish on him. It seemed to work a bit, but I was beginning to feel a bit of some tension in the air.

Luckily I heard the voice of the man of the house speak to her from the far side of the room. I had just about forgotten as well, that this was in fact his house, that he so gracefully let us stay in. I turned my head over to him this time, as I saw the others do the same, to hear what it was that Adrian had to say back to Zoe.

"Well... Well... Well... If it isn't Zoe. Did not expect you to be here so soon, the rest of the legion isn't going to be here til about a month from now." He said to her. She looked at him for a few moments, as the same grin that she had a few moments ago, just as soon popped on to her face.

I was a bit lost, as I was a bit new to the legion still, so it was a bit of a surprise to me, that everyone just knew each other so well. My mind was joggling in so many different place at the moment, as I was not quite sure what exactly was going on at the moment.

I looked at the ground, trying my best to give my brain some time to think, but just as my brain got back on track, I then heard John begin to speak up, for the first time that he had done so as well. As he had just been standing there for some time, staring at Zoe. I turned my head over to him now, to hear what it was that he had to say.

"It seems as though everything is a competition for you Zoe... I told you we were going to be here earlier than the others. I have to teach the kid some things before the others come, so that he is not completely lost... He will be eaten alive." He said to her. She looked at him for a few moments, as she took in what he had just said.

Eventually she did nod to him, as it seemed as though she at least understood that part. It was in fact a bit annoying though, as I had noticed that from her as well, that it seemed as though she made everything a bit of a competition, as if it were more than a game as well.

I shook my head though, as I did my best not to think about it, nor worry about it either. As we all then just sat there for a few moments, just in dead silence. Eventually Julia did let go of my hand as well, which I wish she did not either.

It seemed that Zoe had noticed it right away as well, as she then gave me a bit of a grin, one that Julia could not see either, and it was clear to me what it was that she might be thinking about. I lowered my head to the ground, as I tried not to think about it.

Eventually though, finally someone did decide to speak up, as I noticed that it was Adrians wife. She had her eyes squinted at Zoe as well, as it seemed as though there might be something that I did not know about her. I did my best to try not to worry about that however.

If I kept that in my thoughts, than I would feel guilty about it forever. I knew that John had wanted to speak to me about it as well. Maybe he would tell my something, that would help me feel a bit better. I turned my head over to Adrian's wife, to hear what it was that she had to say.

"Zoe, you know that does not mean that you get a room in our place right? You still are going to sleep with the others in the camp site that we have set up for you. So you might want to go ahead and get that set up..." She said back to Zoe. Zoe looked at her a bit surprised at what she had said as well.

This time a put out a bit of a grin, as it seemed as though she was getting a bit of what she had deserved, for making it such a competition. I saw that John had a bit of a grin on his face as well, as it seemed as though this was a bit of a game to him as well, as he then began to speak to her.

"Yes Zoe... You are going to be alone out there for a long time... So I hope that it was worth it." He said back to her. She sat there for a few moments, still a bit surprised at what it was that had just been said to her. It seemed as though she did not know how to respond to it at all.

She then had a bit of an angry look on her face, as she had finally got what it was that John had just said to her. As she did her best to keep her calm at the same time, which I knew was a bit hard for her as well, as she then responded to John.

"I know that John... I just wanted to let you guys know that I was here, and also I needed some food and some buckets for water as well. Feels like I've just been eating shit for the last few weeks." She said back to him. She seemed to do a good job of keeping her calm, though I knew deep down inside, that she was in fact very angry.

I knew that the others knew the same thing as well, besides my innocent sister Mariah, who seemed just as confused as I had been, as to what it was that was going on. She looked around, looking for some sort of answer, but once she saw no one had noticed her, she just gave up, and she stayed silent.

No one said a word, as Zoe eventually closed the door behind her, as it was in fact starting to get a bit cold in the room, since she had been letting in the cold air. It also seemed as though she was also saying something with her closing the door as well.

Maybe I was just getting a bit ahead of myself, but it almost seemed like she was trying to tell us that she was in fact going to be staying here. I shook my head though, as I knew that it was not going to happen, and it already had been made perfectly clear.

Everyone just stayed silent for a bit longer, as it seemed as though she was waiting for one of us to respond to what it was that she had just said. Eventually, and thankfully as well, I heard the voice or Adrian from the far side of the room, begin to speak up to her once again.

We have leftovers in the cold box in the back of the kitchen... Julia, will you go and get her some buckets to put some water from the well in there?" He said over to Julia. I looked over at Julia, as I saw her eyes squinted at Zoe still, but she then blinked a few times, once she had heard her name brought up.

She then turned her head over to Adrian, as I was almost about to expect her to say no, but eventually, she did slowly nod to him. As she then began to walk out of the room, and up the stairs, to where I had to guess the buckets were at.

It seemed as though she had a lot of the job to do things for people at this place. Almost as if she was some sort of maid, or a butler almost. I watched as she began to walk up the stairs, now leaving me with Zoe. But luckily I was not alone with her, yet.

I still had the others to protect me from her, for the time being at least. I looked back over to her, as I saw she had a bit of an almost evil smile on her face, seeing that Julia had just walked out of the room. It was clear that she knew that she was my girlfriend.

It was clear to me as well, that she knew that she had in fact been alive all this time as well. I closed my eyes, as I did my best to try not to focus on any of it at the moment. I then turned my head over to my sister, opening my eyes, just as soon as I had closed them, as I heard her decide to speak for once.

"Well... Zoe, I would love to find out more about you, how about we take you to the other room, and get you set up with some nice food..." She said over to Zoe. Zoe looked at my sister for a short period of time, as it was clear that she did not care about her at all.

It got me quite a bit angry, as she did not seem to know that if I was to die, that meant that my sister was next in line to be the leader of the legion. I shook my head though at the same time, as I saw Zoe nod to her, as it hit me, what my sister had just said.

I turned my head over to John at the same time as well, as I then heard him decide to step up, and speak to all of us at the same time once again. I looked over at him, listening to what it was that he had to say.

"Well... I will leave you guys to be, but I would in fact like for Adrian, and you other 3 to come with me outside, I want to make plans." He said to all of them. I looked at him for a short period of time, as I wondered if he was being serious. Was he doing this on purpose?

Was this some sort of test? He knew that Zoe was going to make some sly remarks that my sister would not understand, also trying to get me to come after her. I looked at John, and then I squinted my eyes at him. He shrugged his shoulders at me.

I was beginning to get a bit upset with him, but I did not have time to say anything to him, as I heard the footsteps of Adrian, and all of the others, as they began to follow John to the front door, to go outside, and speak on whatever it was that they had to say to each other.

I saw the door open, as it let in a bit of a chilly breeze, that made me shiver a bit, as they then quickly, as if they were doing it on purpose as well, began to go outside. I watched them walk away, as I then turned my head over to Zoe and my sister, and then I gulped.

Zoe looked at me for some time, as I saw her put out a big grin at me, I shook my head, and then looked away, as I followed my sister into the kitchen. I then saw that Adrian's wife was with us as well, so that was a plus for sure, so I knew that she could not come after me like she would if it were just my sister with us.

I did not want to think about the night that we had been with each other, but at the same time as well, it was a bit hard for me to just easily push it off at the same time too. I walked in to the kitchen with my sister, as it was clear that she was used to this place.

She quickly went over to the cold box that was on the far side of the room, as it looked even bigger than the cold box that we had at our old house. Hell... This whole place was much larger than the small mansion that we used to have in the city.

It kind of scared me a bit, if I was going to be honest with myself. I looked around at the room for a bit of some time, thankfully clearing out all of the thoughts that I had been having. But just as I cleared them, I heard my sister begin to speak, and I quickly turned my head over to her, to hear what it was that she had to say.

"Come on you 2... Sit down at the table, you all are welcome here." She said to us. I looked at Zoe for a few moments, as she grinned at me. I looked at her a bit confused, but I figured that I should not worry about it. Zoe nodded for me to sit down at the table first.

I nodded back to her, as it was normally the man that let the woman do it first, but I was in fact a bit hungry, as I had realized that I had woken up a bit late, as I had gotten some good sleep. I sat down at the table, as I saw Zoe do the same as well.

But she sat down right beside me, and I then realized the mistake that I had just made, and the trap that I had just so easily fell in to. She had clearly done that on purpose, so that she could do that. I looked away from her, as I then realized that Adrian's wife had left the room.

It was even worse than before, as I expected at any moment now, that Zoe was going to put her hands near where my crouch was, or be a bit extra, and put her hand into mine, just as Julia had not too long ago. She knew that I would not say a thing if she did so as well.

It would be a bit embarrassing, if I stood up to her like that in front of my sister, so I just had to pray and hope that she did not do so. I saw her hands from the corner of my eye, as I could see that thankfully she was doing no such thing either.

I looked away from her, as I then turned my head over to my sister as I had heard her putting to food on to the stove, she turned her head over to the both of us, as she then nodded, as she began to speak.

"It will be ready soon."
