Camryn opened her eyes and blinked into the dark room while Troy snored quietly next to her. In fact, he had been snoring for the past four hours. Right after they'd had sex in the shower. And in bed. Again.
You have me.
She hadn't dared ask what he'd meant. Didn't dare hope. His version of a relationship and hers were very different. His future goals and hers not even close to being in sync. So why had he fought so damn hard earlier? He could've just let her go. Why ask questions as if he'd planned to take this farther?
Because he felt sorry for her. That's what his list and everything this week had been about. It had to be. Her boyfriend had said mean things and dumped her. Troy had taken pity and agreed to step in. He'd glimpsed her version of life, how pathetic he thought she was, and had given her tasks to complete to make herself better. More presentable. Less boring.
So maybe the next guy who dumped her won't say anything on the way out.
