Chapter 85

Wednesday, July 17th

Katelina hurried off to work the next morning, and Patrick let himself out. He hit a burger place for breakfast, then went home where he found a note from Jorick, demanding he come over that night.

So much for hiding.

That evening found him at Jorick's apartment. There was nowhere to sit, so Patrick leaned against the wall. Last night was still heavy on his mind. As he gazed out the window, he worried how much Jorick could see. He didn't know how good vampires' vision was. If it was anything like their hearing, then he didn't like to think what Jorick had witnessed last night.

Next time we'll go to my place.

The door banged open and Michael stormed in. "I hope you're fucking happy."

Jorick looked up from his book. "Hello, Michael."

"Did you hear me?" Michael sneered. "I hope you're happy, Patrick. I told Claudius to stay away from your bit of fluff and he said it was her or us. He won't bargain for all three!"
