A decade later

Kate and Chloe Bennett had just landed in London City Airport after departing from LA. They head on to pick up their luggages and went to the taxi stand.

A little background of them started when their parents passed away on an unfortunate major accident, involving three cars and a truck. Kate had to sell their house with the help of their aunt, Mary Bennett, whom also assisted on transferring Chloe into a secondary school here in London. Unlike Chloe, Kate had recently graduated from secondary school and coincidentally applied for a tertiary school in London.

Upon reaching the taxi stand, the sisters were greeted with a black SUV car with a familiar lady leaning onto the car, scrolling whatever was displayed on her phone. Sensing their presence, Mary looked up and smiled as warmly as possible.

"Hey girls. How's the flight? You must be tired," Mary started off as she opened the boot of the car to place their luggages. Chloe yawned and hopped into the car while Kate assisted her.

"It was fine I guess. Still kinda tired from everything," Kate replied casually as she closed the boot.

Mary nodded and both entered the car with no other conversation. The engine was then started and drove off smoothly, heading to their new home. The nostalgic feeling kicked in as they arrived the recognisable garage. Nothing much has changed I guess, she thought.

The door, as if it was waiting for the new arrivals, was wide opened and there stood their cousin, Lucas Allen. "Hey guys. Must be tiring trip for you. Why don't you get inside and rest for awhile while mother and I help you with the luggages," he offered and took the luggages from Chloe's hands and happily walked back into the house.

The mother and son spent another ten minutes to prepare a simple meal for the exhausted sisters. After the meal, the two sisters thanked them and head to their respective rooms, assigned by Mary. Kate followed Chloe into her room and was flabbergasted by how they managed to prepare a room in a short period of time. A simple room which the colours complement one another wel and the well-furnished finishes off with elegant details, expressing Chloe's soft personality.

The two then happily ran to Kate's room and were agape at how detailed the room was deisgned as well. A sky blue room, Kate's favourite colour, with minimal furnitures and designs, the type of room Kate loved. The young ladies jumped on the bed in excitement and laid down soon after.

The two continued to talk before they helped one another to unpack their stuffs. Time flew in a blink of an eye and it was time for supper. The four gathered to have their supper when Mary spoke up, "Chloe, both you and Lucas will go to school together to finalise your transfer. Lucas, your form teacher has been informed. As for you, young lady. I've taken a day off tomorrow to help you out in the application to University of Westminster." "Okay," both replied and the silence replaced the conversation as everyone indulge in their own food.

The new family of four cleaned up after their mess and sat together to watch the television, except for Kate. Kate was up in her room, scrolling through her gallery when a picture caught her eyes.

John Dawson. The picture that was taken ten years ago then started to trigger the memories of theirs, recalling every single one of it in detail.

It's been so long John. I hope you're doing well. We miss you. I miss you. She thought as a tear fell from her eyes unconsciously. Wiping away the tears, Kate got up to charge her phone and slept in early. The young lady dived into a huge slumber whereas the living room erupted with laughter.

Eight in the morning and the house was starting to buzz as everyone was preparing themselves for the day. Kate woke up with a messy hair and squinted her eyes at the ray of sunlight breaking in to her room from the parted curtains. Yawning, stretching and scartching herself, the dazed Kate took the outfit from the chair and dragged her feet to the toilet. With a red converse to finish the look, Kate went down to the kitchen to have breakfast with Mary.

The clock strike nine and the two entered the car and drove off to the University of Westminster. After parking, they searched their way to the general office to handle all the admin things. Coincidentally, the first semester as a freshmen begins next week and there were empty slots in the business course she applied for.

After clearing all the admin work, Kate was given a class along with her schedule to follow through for the semester. She accepted it with both hands and thanked the office lady before they both went to a nearby café located on the opposite side of university. Furthermore, it is a pure coincidence that a part-time barista is being offered. Kate was also looking for a part-time job to support her financially instead of relying on her aunt. As if God was on her side, the quick intereview was successfully accepted and she could start in three days.

The two ladies hopped back into the car and drive down the streets, back to their home. They ordered two boxes of pizzas on their way home since the food storage was practically empty. Mary made a mental note to do grocery shopping with them on one of the weekends.

The weekend arrived in a blink of an eye and the four of us walked down the aisles of the hypermarket, grabbing the basic neccesities, followed by other wants. I pushed the cart while the Chloe and Lucas ran around, grabbing more unnecessary food. Mary shook her head and chuckled, still not stopping them from piling up the cart. I smiled warmingly and continued to push cart.

"Kate, you should go get two pillows of bread. We don't have any at home. Could you do that sweetie? I'll push the cart, don't worry," Mary said, I nodded and went off to the bakery section.

Upon taking the bread, I turned and was almost knocked over a well-built guy. As if on reflex, I stepped back but only to trip over my own food and fell hard on my ass to the floor. I groaned as the piercing pain from the fall gave me a harder time to get up on my own. The guy, noticed that I fell, came back to help me get up. He frantically apologise as if he had made the biggest sin. However, deep down, his voice seems to be familiar.

"Oh no, it's okay. Don't beat yourself up about it. I'm fine," I assured him as I stood up. And to my surprise, it strucked me to easily identify the person right in front of me. Someone who I have been dearly missed for a decade.
