Dear future Nikki


I want to write letters to you. 

I want you to remember how it was before it became how it is. 

I want you to know I was here before you got there.

Nikki lives an ordinary life in the city of Windhoek. She keeps up her grades to make her parents proud, she has friends that she loves and cherishes, and a family that supports her throughout. 

From the outside, she looks quiet, but happy and content with her life, which she is. 



But when she is locked in her room alone, it's anything but. 



She silently struggles with stress and depression, causing her to shut out everyone and cry on her own for hours, for reasons unknown to her. 

She decides to write letters to her future self, and express herself fully and truthfully as a stress reliever. She hides her letters, and continues her days, happy that they are safe and hidden from anyone. 

What happens when a mysterious person gets a hold of one of her most personal letter and decides to have their fun with her? And what about the boy that suddenly shows up in her life? Could he be the culprit? Would she loose her trust in everyone and everything? 


Read her struggle forward as her silent sad truth that she wrote is finally out and about.

The Sad Truth She Wrote

This is my first letter to you. I don't really write a lot, I prefer to read actually. I like to feel the weight of the book in my hand as I turn from page to page.


And yes, I read romantic novels. Clichés that all have the same endings and plots, but who doesn't love the drama.


School isn't easy. School work is stressful, but the teachers are worse. I have many friends, but I feel so alone.  It's kinda getting to me these days. I hope you're not dealing with this anymore.


How's the future by the way? I know you have no way of answering me, and I have no way of getting any sort of help from this, but it's fun to have someone to talk to, even though it's just yourself from the future, or a part of yourself, since I don't know how much you've changed since present me.


I hope things are better in the future. I can't ask for much, since I'm still in grade 8; just a beginner in this high school life. I hope to be a vet one day, and I hope that wherever you are, that dream is true.


Hope you are OK. Don't know if I'll write again, but I hope I can keep these letters consistent.
