I can remember very clearly getting eaten by a shark and then suddenly complete and utter darkness.
Not the kind where you can't see but the kind where there are no senses of any kind. In that type of place you slowly but surely begin to slip into madness as seconds become years and time itself stops being something you can understand.
At least that's how it was for me. But suddenly one day just as randomly as I arrived I also left the exact same way.
My new surroundings were hard to understand. I could physically feel myself on top of something but not any other senses.
I assume most wouldn't handle such a change well but compared to that absolute nothingness from before, just having one sense was something like a blessing compared to it.
I still couldn't get a good grasp on time exactly but I could feel myself moving in a strange manner and feeling many different things enter my body.
Suddenly I felt myself being lifted and I panicked slightly at the loss of my one constant. I calmed down however when I felt a poke that was soon followed by hands rubbing all over my form. Which at this point I'm sure isn't anything more than a ball of slime. Although I could be wrong.
I don't know how much time passed before I suddenly felt something moving enter my body.
Instinctively I devoured it and felt my senses begin to return little by little.
After a while I could finally feel like I had a form I could take and decided to try it out.
In a split second I transformed my body into what I had just devoured and found myself looking at a giant orange skinned woman with long beautiful black hair.
I don't know why but she looks vaguely familiar to me. I can't remember anything from before my time in the nothingness. Not even my name but her appearance seems to be shaking some memories loose. Or at least the feelings that came with them.
"Aren't you a interesting little one. I'll name you Halind'r. It means Shifting Fire. Do you like it?" The woman asked causing me to nod up and down happily.
Honestly not having a name was starting to annoy me as I could feel an ache every time I tried to remember. So this way I now have a name and it doesn't hurt so perfect.
I spent the next few weeks in a cutely decorated room spending time with the nice woman who named me. There were strange stuffed toys of creatures I've never seen before and lots of the color purple. And I can't begin to stress how nice it feels to be able to tell time again.
She would often tell me stories of her planet and her sister that she betrayed. Every time she spoke she had this sad longing yet unbridled hatred look that always broke my heart.
After-all who wants to see their savior in pain. That's why every time she would get lost in her thoughts I would morph into a random animal she had fed me and begin trying to distract her and make her smile again.
It didn't always work right away but I never gave up and always eventually brought her out of her spiral and made her focus on different things.
Today I could feel a strange tingle through my body as the instincts of all the animals I've eaten were warning me to run. Before I could react though all hell broke loose.
The entire ship shook and alarms began to sound while I panicked and began to look for my savior.
She had taken me on a few walks throughout the ship so I knew the layout but that was about it. In fact I would usually just focus on her and her smile as she sung gently while walking.
Shaking my thoughts out of my head I quickly headed to the main room where she should be and found a site I never wanted to see.
There were strange hunched over beings with red eyes and purple tendril like masks. They smelled disgusting and looked like they were constantly decaying.
That didn't bother me as much as what I saw though.
They were standing over a one armed version of my savior who looked like she was about to kill herself to avoid suffering at their hands.
This sight snapped something within me as I combined all the creatures I had eaten and morphed into a hideous abomination that bolted straight at the beings.
I didn't care about the look of surprise on their faces or how gross they smelled. No I simply tore into them with a ferociousness I didn't know I had. Maybe those animals gave me a little bit more that just instinct and made me more animal like.
Biting through the throat of the closest one I didn't slow down and instead spit a venom mist into the two behind the now throat-less one.
Using my long clawed feet I began shredding the three and using my tail as a sharp piercer filled with poison like that one crunchy creature I ate.
Within seconds the three are dead and I devour them all and turn to check on my savior.
When I turn around I notice she is laying there limp and I begin to panic.
I honestly have no clue what to do now. The only thing I could do is blindly wing it so that's exactly what I did.
Shifting into a more humanoid form that I just got from those assholes, I quickly grab her severed arm and store it in my body while using my slime to cover her wound and stop the bleeding. I know my slime has a minor healing affect due to the fact I healed one of my meals by accident once.
Seeing all her blood on the floor I take it and store it all inside my body as well. I don't know fore sure but I assume my body doesn't let things rot. I've never tried it out but I can only hope I'm right.
Looking around I see the control center where she sets courses and scroll through it looking for who I hope is on here.
After a few seconds of foreign names and places and my worry increasing I finally notice a picture of a woman who looks similar to my savior and can recognize that this is her sister from the stories.
Smashing my hand down on the button to choose it quickly set a course and the ship began moving at a speed I couldn't keep up with with my eyes.
Looking back down I worriedly keep holding her limp body hoping by some miracle I can save her.
Time seemed to fade away again as I stared at her barely breathing form that I struggled to keep alive with my absolute zero knowledge on anything except what she's taught me.
Feeling an impulse take over me I begin using my newly formed vocal cords and sing the song she always hums to me as a hope that I can wake her up somehow.
*Untold amount of distance away*
"Hmmm...? A tamaranean prayer-song being sung by a unseen before species...? I had long since thought my species had forgotten me but it seems at least one still exists. Albeit not one of my creations yet it is still a new follower who begs for help." A foreign female voice spoke out like a cat awoken from a deep sleep while gazing at the scene of a humanoid being singing desperately for help.
*The ship*
"Very well. I can't do much since I'm still recovering but I'll at least guarantee she survives until you can get her help little one. Make sure to come back to tameran and visit my temple at least once. I'd like to see what my last follower looks like in person." A voice spoke out into my head making me flinch before looking down at the now peacefully breathing version of my savior covered in a gentle orange glow.
I don't know what happened but whatever being just helped me I swear to pay it back in full. If it wants me to visit my saviors home planet then I will happily do so. First however I need to make sure she survives and have enough strength to protect her while she recovers on this foreign planet.
Holding her gently I begin to mentally go through all the beings I've devoured and create a perfect form that can protect her properly. Not the abomination I was earlier.
I spent the next few days combining everything I had ever devoured into a completely new form that would have to do for now.
I now had a humanoid and bipedal basic form. I had a venom sack stored inside my chest that allowed me to spew venom like I did earlier against the attackers and sharp claws that extend out my hands that can retract at will.
I also had a strong layer of scales and muscle underneath very firm like thick leather skin. It let me be much more durable and still move freely. Plus I had a sharp easily movable tail that could pierce things easily and flood them with venom.
I'm missing lots of more upgrades but I had to make do with basic things. I'll make sure to devour some new things to allow me to protect my savior better.
Suddenly I was taken out of my thoughts when I felt the entire ship slam into something and I almost fell over but luckily my body stayed firm while I carefully picked my savior up and exited the ship.
Once I exited I saw multiple people in different costumes standing there ready to fight.
Scanning the people I saw who I was looking for and ran to her while carrying my savior.
Seeing me approach they all begin to start to attack when they are stopped by a green blur who rushes at me and begins speaking in a language I can't understand.
Hell I can barely understand when my savior speaks but I put the pieces together judging by her facial expressions and body movements. Plus the more I hear her the more things become clear so I can understand it basically now but by no means speak it or understand slang or special meanings behind words.
The green blur who now that I look closely is the woman I was looking for was worriedly yelling to the others while they looked on warily.
Seeing that they were doing nothing while my savior was in danger I felt my anger rise up and threaten to consume me.
Before I knew it my eyes turned into snake eyes and my claws came out while I growled threateningly. I've been having troubles controlling my animal instincts more and more since my savior has been unconscious.
The group look at me warily as my form changes and a certain cloaked one looks at me with anger as well which I don't understand why. Not that I really care though.
Luckily for all of us my saviors sister stopped our stare-off by chopping my head as I stared at her in confusion and slowly retracted my claws.
Soon they spoke some more and I'm slowly starting to understand their language. They had decided to help and I was helped by her sister and carried my savior into a T shaped tower.
We went through a few rooms and floors before entering a strange white room with all kinds of machines in it.
I don't know what any of them do but if they can help her then I'm all for it.
Quickly I helped place her down and watched as they began hooking up all kinds of things o her body.
I was brought out of my daze when I saw a massive pointy thing be pulled out and strapped into her arm.
I instantly reacted and sent my stinger in the direction of the one holding the thing before I was suddenly stopped by my saviors sister.
Hissing threateningly I struggled to escape her grasp and hesitated to attack her since it was clear from her stories that my savior loves her deeply. If I were to ever hurt her then I'd probably be killed or abandoned and that thought terrifies me.
Struggling to break free I watch in horror as more sharp things enter her body and I begin crying over my hesitation. I firmly decided to not hold back even if she hates me for it and unleashed my claws before I heard a cough from my savior yet she still wasn't awake.
Staring at her in shock I quickly begin singing the song for her. Just hoping it could help bring her back to me.
When I did so her sister let me loose in shock and I scrambled to my saviors side while stroking her hair gently.
For a few minutes I sung until my throat started to ache. I didn't stop though as a little pain is nothing compared to her.
Suddenly I was brought out of my thoughts by a gasp and I looked down to see her open her eyes slowly while catching her breath.
She looked around in confusion and upon seeing me and the others flinched and got ready for a fight.
Feeling like she might now recognize me like this I quickly transformed back into my slime form and plopped onto her lap causing her eyes to widen.
Ignoring everyone else she hesitantly picked me up and began looking at me with a strange look.
"Did you save me and bring me here Halind'r? Why?" She asked with confusion on her face.
Nodding excitedly I began to motion with my body what happened when I suddenly remembered I have vocal cords now and hopped off the bed and transformed back into my humanoid form.
Talking out loud I watched her face turn into many different looks but still shock was the main one. Especially when she heard me speaking in butchered tamaranean and about some being speaking in the ship or my head.
As I finished talking she just looked at me I'm surprise before smiling when I returned to my slime form and hopped back onto her lap.
"I see. It seems a lot happened while I was out. Thank you little one. I never would've thought you would save me one day." She said while gently smiling and petting my slime form which made me happily lay in her lap and receive the petting.
Unfortunately all good things come to and end as she stopped and began talking to the group who helped us and looking at her stump of an arm sadly.
Remembering something I quickly hopped off and transformed again.
"Savior. I stored your arm and all the blood within me. I don't know if it stayed safe within my body but I didn't want to just leave it to rot. I didn't know how to put it back on you so I decided to keep it till you wake up." I said while looking at her with worry.
Hearing me she looked up in surprise before smiling and petting my head while I instinctively purred a little before coming back to my senses.
After a back and forth they decided to see what condition it was in and got strange boxes filled with cold air and told me to put it in it.
Looking at her to see if she agreed, she nodded and I reached into my stomach and pulled out her severed arm which luckily was still looking exactly how I had seen it when I stored it.
Soon some tests were ran and they said they could reconnect it but it'll take at least a year to fully be usable again. That's without a healing power or something special being done.
I watched in worry as they attached it back and reconnected all the things inside to where they were suppose to be. The entire time I supported them by giving the blood I had stored.
After a few hours the surgeries were done and I still had lots of her blood to spare.
"Savior. I still have a lot of your blood stored. What do you want me to do with it?" I asked while watching her talk to her sister heatedly.
"Huh? Oh you can do whatever you want with it. Also stop calling me Savior. Just call me Blackfire or Komand'r. Also can you tell my why you brought me here instead of anywhere else?" She said while glaring at her sister while I pause and stare in confusion.
"Because you yourself would always tell me stories of your sister and the guilt you carry for what you did. Even the hatred you felt due to being ostracized by your people for having different powers and appearance. I just thought if she was anything like the kind you and the stories you told with longing then it would be my best bet." I said while nodding and smiling.
I stopped smiling however when I noticed the two frozen and staring at me in shock.
"Huh? Did I say something wrong?" I ask while tilting my head and looking back and forth between them.
"N-no...you were correct. Good job Halind'r." Blackfire croaked out which made her sister stare at her with her mouth open wide.
Decide to ignore the strange state they were in I focused on the blood I had stored inside me and began devouring half of it.
I left the other half just in case of an emergency in which her blood was needed.
Soon I felt changes begin to happen and I merged them with my humanoid form causing my eyes to turn entirely green and my hair to become a purplish black.
I could feel a strange tingling start happening and saw purple bolts start appearing on my hands.
Seeing this I smiled and made them disappear before looking at Blackfire and grinning.
"Look! Now I'm like you too! I always thought those purple bolts were so beautiful." I said while making the bolts appear again and dance around my hand as if they were alive.
"H-halind'r am I dreaming...?" Blackfire asked shakily which made me confused.
"No you are finally awake. Why?" I ask while I approach her to make sure she's okay.
Suddenly I felt her grab me and slam her head into my chest while crying which made me panic and start trying to soothe her.
I thought of changing into my animals like I use to but my instinct warned me against doing that.
I could only pet her head like she did to me and hum the songs she sung.
Eventually she stopped crying and pulled back with red puffy eyes and smiling beautifully.
She didn't explain or say anything no matter how many times I asked so I eventually gave up and went back to staying on her lap as a slime.
While laying on her lap I couldn't help but feel relief pass over me and felt days without sleep catch up as I slowly fell asleep.
(3rd person POV)
Blackfire stared at the little slime on her lap lovingly as she pet him gently causing her sister to pout.
"I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you Koriand'r. I only wanted to protect our planet from the Blight but at some point my judgement was blurred and I mixed it with my hatred of how everyone treated us differently. Honestly I never planned to admit this or apologize but seeing how Halind'r already exposed me, I might as well." Blackfire said while sighing and poking the sleeping slime making it jiggle.
Starfire stared at her sister in utter shock as if staring at a unknown creature for the first time.
"I didn't realize the weight you carried sister. I always just thought you began to hate me for something I did but could never figure out what it was I did exactly. Our feelings can be put aside for the moment however...What happened to our people?" Starfire asked with worry in her voice.
Blackfire hearing her flinched and looked down sadly.
"The blight consumed our planet just like many others before us. I tired to stop them but no matter what we did we failed. I've been searching the cosmos for months trying to find allies to fight against them yet no one will help us." Blackfire said while looking down in sadness. Even if she hated the majority of her people she wouldn't just stand back and let them be taken over by some fucking invaders who want to enslave or use them for experiments.
"WHAT?!?!?! WHY DIDN'T YOU COME HERE?!?!?!" Starfire screamed with green bolts coming from all over her body.
This caused Blackfire to grow angry and yell back at her with purple bolts spewing from her body.
Suddenly they stopped however when they heard a sizzling sound and saw Halind'r being struck by both their bolts that were coming off their bodies.
Waking up from his sleep he noticed the two worriedly looking at him so he transformed back into his humanoid form and asked what was wrong.
Hearing them explain what happened he looked at them both before explaining why Blackfire never came to this planet.
"You understand now? This is a universal threat and this planet probably wants nothing to do with it. Plus Blackfire has a bad past with causing trouble here. Also both of you calm down I'm fine. I just was woken up by the noise and shaking." He said groggily while laying back down on the bed and cuddling against Blackfire but keeping his humanoid form by accident.
The two stared at the sleeping Halind'r for a moment before speaking again with a normal voice.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get so worked up." The duo said at the same time making them pause before giggling quietly.
Soon the two began speaking peacefully and talking about how to save their planet while glancing at Halind'r sleeping every now and then.
"So is he your betrothed? I have learned on earth that few go to such lengths unless special emotions are in what they call "play"." Starfire asked causing a hard to notice blush appear on Blackfire's face.
"No. I found him on a desolate planet in the Vega-5 system. Since then I've been raising him as my Bumgorf. I didn't even think he was even really that intelligent until today that is." Blackfire said which made Halind'r's eyebrow twitch while he was asleep.
Seeing this the sisters shared a small laugh before talking again and finally burying years of issues between the two.
"Wait now that he is part tamaranean he can use our ability to learn languages. Here move over so I can kiss him and let him learn both this planet's language and our's." Starfire said which made Blackfire flinch and block her path.
"Huh? Why do you block my path sister?" She asked in confusion while tilting her head like a little puppy making Blackfire scowl.
"N-no reason. Just let him sleep for now. We can handle all that when he wakes up." She said causing Starfire to gasp before nodding understandingly and backing away.
The two decided to call it a night and Blackfire laid down on the bed while staring at Halind'r with confused eyes.
"Why did I stop her...?" She muttered quietly before falling asleep and cuddling against him unconsciously.
