Chapter 30

"Well, isn't this lovely" Taylor's mother beamed happily. "I was just saying that I hadn't seen you for a while, Amy. I'll leave you girls to catch up with each other." Amy stepped into Taylor's room as her mother pulled the door shut.

"I don't want to see you," Taylor said firmly. She stared sullenly at her ex-best friend. She had not spoken to her properly since that awful day when she caught her in the library with Matthew. It seemed both natural and wrong that she was now here in Taylor's bedroom, a place where they had once spent so much time together.

Amy stood very still. She seemed nervous, plucking at the seam on the pocket of her jeans before speaking. Despite her indignation at seeing Amy standing in her bedroom Taylor could not help but notice, with a small tremor of amusement, that Amy's shoelaces were undone and so was the zip on her jeans. "I'm sorry," Amy said at last. "I miss you. And I still don't know what I did wrong."
