"Of course," I said. It was already an awkward situation. I would loathe being in Monica's house while this went down.

"You know why this bond had to be created—although you still refuse to accept it."

I crossed my arms in front of myself, but realizing that made me look defensive, I uncrossed them. "How can you say that I don't accept it? I haven't made any trouble for you or for her. We haven't argued about it, have we?"

He looked above my head for a moment before returning his gaze to me. "No. But you didn't ask about her well-being. You do realize that she is dangerous. And you are not keeping any tabs on her."

I tried not to scowl. "And you married her to take care of that."
