Heart of a Lion

The next morning Komo didn't bother going to the academy.

He was lifting a boulder over his head through the fields.

"There's no point in going back... I'll get stronger in my own way..."

When he got to the end of the field, he tossed the boulder to the ground.

He put his hands on his knees, breathing heavily.

"Hey! Hey you!"

Komo looked to his right. A girl was waving to him from in front of her house.

Komo walked over. "Need something?"

"No, YOU need something. Stay here, I'll be right back!" She ran into the house.

Minutes later she came out with bandages and ointment. "Sit."

Komo thought of denying her but he obeyed.

She tended to his wounds and bandages him up. "There. I couldn't let you go on like that. It's bad for you."

Komo gave her a bow. "Thank you." He started running off.

The girl seemed worried. "Um! My name is Mei! What's yours?!"

Komo looked back. "Komo!"

He kept running. As he made his way up the field, he saw a large black circle appear overhead.
