Kathrine headed back to Arizona after a few days. She had no car, so she took busses. She could have taken an airplane but felt that flying made her miss out on the world and everyone in it. Flights were rushed, the people rude and uncaring. With a bus, you were going to be sitting, uncomfortably, beside these people for hours with nothing to do. This forced people to treat each other more kindly, even the driver of the bus knew this simple truth.
After several days, Kathrine walked up to the bar in the small, Arizona town. She was to meet Charles here to pick up some new recruits. Charles had done all the homework on these two while Kathrine was on her personal errand to stop the rapist and inadvertently save Shelly. She didn't see Charles, but his scent was still in the air. She couldn't be more than a couple minutes behind him. He must have been impatient and went inside.
