Loves to cook but cannot bake. She loves to relax and hang out with her husband and watch movie marathons. When she is not writing her newest emotionally driven book she is chasing around her two small children.

It only takes five words to drag me back to the desolate dry land of Afghanistan. Five simple words and I'm seeing the blast of gunfire behind my head. Five words and I see her drop right in front of my eyes. Five words causes me to lose myself and revert back into the soldier they made me. Five words.

Being a nurse in the ER department has its moments of amazing days. You're able to watch lives be saved and are able to witness as people come in a zero and walk out a ten. But nights like tonight? Nights where not only did I have to take the blood of a man so drunk even the officer that brought him in looked tipsy, but it turns out the asshole nearly beat someone to death at a bar because he almost tripped over him. Those are the nights that make coming home more exhausting.


I park my car in the driveway and do what I do every single night since I moved out here from Texas. I take a few deep breaths and count my blessings. That's all a person can do when they are trapped between a rock and a hard place like I was.
