Moonlight Hunter

Grassley got 420th in the strength competition, 415th in the sprint competition, and 1st in the elementalist competition.

He won the elementalist competition by one second, causing 5 rocks to glow in a record 65 seconds. Normally, with such results, a child would still get disqualified, however, those with 5 ring elemental results would never get recycled.

5 ring elementalists could absorb materials five times faster than a one ring elementalist. This meant that Grassley had an extremely high amount of potential, and had a rare type of spiritual roots! Spiritual roots grew in certain patterns, which got randomly decided by genetics. Those with five rings had a special weaving of spiritual roots that most humans could only dream of in their sleep.

Grassley, because of these results, found himself selected to be in the top class of the Sacred Fire Academy. However, one person, Dalilia, couldn't forget that pink glowing stone. She looked at Grassley, three weeks after the entry examination, walking into the school with a smile on his face.

They had both been selected to be in the truly gifted class.

Dalilia had spent her entire life training and taken tons of rare tonics to enhance her spiritual roots to the five ring level. However, in front of her, a once in a lifetime genius seemed to be playing a flute and nonchalantly walking down the hallway.

A few students wearing the black and tan uniforms of the school, made menacing and meaningful looks to him. One kid even made a cutthroat gesture while Grassley entered into class 10.

He sat down in the back of the class and took out his flute and turned to look out at the sky. The stars shimmering in the distance mixed with the sunshine spreading like wildfire across the cities in the distance and the strange starlight trees towering over even the largest skyscrapers.

Dalilia walked over to him and sat down next to him, taking out her computer and opening it in Grassley's direction.

On the screen, an image of a glowing pink rock immediately caught Grassley's attention. He instantly gulped before Dalilia pointed at her eyes and winked with a wide smile.

"Don't worry. I don't plan on showing anyone this photo. I just took it with my digital lenses tto make sure you'll protect me," Dalilia pointed at the teacher walking into the room. "In Sacred Fire Academy, on the first week we're sent to go collect resources from powerful encroachment beasts. I want you to just stay near me and protect me," Dalilia pointed at her laptop. "If you don't, I'll find a way to send it even if I die!"

"I like protecting beautiful women," Grassley smiled widely and pointed at Dalilia's face. "You're the prettiest girl I've ever seen. Of course I'll protect you!"

"I can't believe how easy you are to impress," Dalilia frowned while the teacher passed out a set of headsets to the students in the classroom. "Be careful, okay. My father told me a few weeks ago I'm going to have a lot of brothers soon. You better stop insulting someone who is going to beat you on the rankings!

The rankings in Sacred Fire Academy got divided by class with each spot in the ranking earning students resources. All students were expected to take the path of elementalist cultivators, and as such a great amount of resources were needed. Being first on the ranking board meant 100 times more resources than the student at the bottom of the class!

And to Dalilia, the thirty students in her class would be the fiercest competitors on the ranking boards, and out of those thirty students Grassley had the most potential! By getting Grassley under her control by using the photo she took of him, she could very easily control his spot on the rankings!

For a five year old, Delilia had the intelligence of someone much greater along in years! She had been given some of the rarest tonics and potions by her father, including some that greatly increased her aptitude!

She looked at Grassley frowning and winced before a senior student placed a next world drive on her desk. In the Sacred Fire Nation, resources got sent to students digitally through the dimensional space cultivation network. She looked at her helmet and instantly decided at that moment to claim the most resources in the school, and earn prestige for her family!

On the other hand, Grassley looked at the dimensional space cultivation headset and thought of throwing it away. He had thousands of times more resources than this helmet could provide him back on the comet.

At this moment, the teacher gave off the coldest gaze to the students as he gently slid against the cold tiles with the most strange and peculiar movements.

Only the best teachers got to teach the most talented young students, and this teacher had a power level at the core burgeoning rank at the age of 35! He had set the record for the fastest powering up of a teacher of anyone in the school! However, with long black hair that grew down past his waist and looked like a powerful sword draped on his back. The most terrifying thing about his appearance had to be his eyes! He gained the nickname moonlight hunter because his eyes always glowed white even when the lights were off!

The teacher had a rare physique which came from his unique moonlight spiritual core! When the sixteen universe nations fought over a newly discovered area a few years ago, he alone gained the Sacred Fire Universe Nation three mountains!

Just him being here showed his preternatural abilities as a teacher, and made even Grassley somewhat tremble at the handsome man standing in front of the class.

The teacher held out his hand and caused a cool mist to spread through the room and all the students to be surrounded by darkness.

In the next moment, a sound could be heard scratching against one of the desks, and three students went flying to the back of the classroom.

Boom!

Grassley instantly gulped and reached out towards Dalilia while sensing a powerful gale coming in their direction.

Boom!

Grassley's desk flew out the window while several more students hit various parts of the classroom.

"He's dangerous. Stand behind me," Grassley tossed the young pretty girl behind him and gently placed his hand around his wrist. "In exchange, though, delete that photo right now, or I'm going to let him get you!"

"Hoh, you dodged my attack, little brat," The mist suddenly got thicker as another student screamed and hit against the wall. Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of Grassley with blank ink dripping out of his eyes. "Congratulations, you'll be the president of this class."

"I wanted a student president!"

"No I did!" Two children shouted as the haze receded into the distance. "How are you letting that hopping dweeb be in charge?"

"The student president is the one who ensures all students survive." The teacher tapped the floor, causing the mist to disappear, leaving many of the students rolling on the floor. "You all are dismissed. Come back tomorrow with three low level encroachment hearts from the beasts around the school! If you fail, each one of you will be kicked out of the program!"

"Three encroachment hearts!" The very idea of having to get an encroachment heart meant tearing apart a beast with their bare hands! "We haven't even been given weapons yet by the school artificer department! How do you expect us to kill them!"

"Back in the day," The teacher said with a smile on his face while staring at Grassley, "People used to rely on their skills with swords and slingshots to kill encroachment beasts."

Hundreds of thousands of years ago, there had been a great change in humans after the age of cultivation. However, this change also occurred in powerful beasts! These beasts developed strange abilities, grew enhanced intelligence, and some of them even learned to make powerful tools!

The weakest of these beasts had the name encroachment beasts, and lived in most planets peacefully unless their territory got intruded on. Unfortunately, the Star Fire Academy got built in the middle of a nesting sight to some of the most powerful encroachment beasts!

Their children which included starlight foxes, and spellhorn goats, were usually three times stronger than a normal human! Without weapons given to them by the Sacred Fire Academy, the only way they could kill the beasts is by outsmarting them!

Dalilia grabbed Grassley's hand and pulled him towards the exit while the rest of the students noticed her leaving and scoffed in anger.

"This is all his fault! First, he couldn't even pick up a rock and now because of him we're getting sent to hunt beasts," A young boy named Geric said with a frown on his face. "Teacher, he shouldn't even be in this academy! He scored last in two of the challenges!"

"Geric, is it?" The teacher walked over to the young boy and patted him on the head. "There is nothing worse than a waste of resources. Do you know how you earn your resources?"

"By getting on the ranking boards, Master Jasick. However, the ranking tournament won't be for a few weeks."

"Right, and how are resources allocated. Based on a single person, or the entire class?" The teacher tapped him on his shoulder and pointed at Grassley. "You know the answer is based on class, right? So for now. Push aside your hatred of Grassley, and make sure that not a single one of you comes back without three encroachment hearts. If you do, I promise to make you all suffer for two hours tomorrow with physical training even someone ten times your age couldn't handle! Do you hear me class!"

"Yes, Master Jasick!" The students rushed towards the doorway and scattered like leaves in the wind.
