Chapter 32: Pitfall, Part 2

Solana's smile faded for a short instant before giggling and turning her head. She wiped her face very quickly and hugged Angel.

"Let's not talk about that! We're getting along, now!" Solana said, giving Angel a hug.

Angel was not used to affection. Solana knew this, and yet she did it anyway. It was the only thing she knew how to give anymore. She didn't know how to cook, she didn't have any special skills or dreams. Smiling and making people feel better was what she felt like she was good at. She always tried to smile and look at the bright side of things. Angel could feel her sadness masked behind her smile and she began to question herself.

She didn't even see Celeste before she left for this world. Her mother died when she was young, and her father disappeared, so Celeste was all she had. She took her from an orphanage when she was three, and that was all she knew. Celeste was her mother, her guardian, her caretaker.
