Chapter 103

Lisa was working at her computers when she heard on the news of a car bombing in DC at the back of an unused pool hall. When she looked up at the TV she was surprised to see what looked to be the remains of her car burning and spread out everywhere. The reporter was saying something about "no known deaths at this time."

Her hands were trembling as she wrung them together, worried and scared for Sam. She had done more research on the D Street Defenders and had found out they appear nonchalant on the outside but were deadly if crossed. Maybe Sam had crossed a line with them? Maybe his cover was exposed and they were trying to get rid of him without any evidence? Charred beyond recognition would do that to a body, she thought.

But she also knew Sam and how smart he was. He was probably completely safe, but she still worried. It had been only been one day since she saw him at Dane Reed's and hadn't heard from him again.
