Shortly after they settled into the car, Elyse looked around the parking lot. "I wonder where Jolene parked her car. It's not in her assigned spot."
"Where is it usually?"
"Where we're parked now. Look, down there." She pointed out the window to her right. "The third car down is Jolene's car, the red Honda Civic. I'm positive. I wonder why it's parked in the wrong spot?"
"Hmmm. Don't know. You stay here, and I'll take a look."
"Not without me," Elyse proclaimed while she opened the door and stepped out.
Dalton stood at the back of his car, searching the area for any movement, any drapes opening, any sign of anyone watching from anywhere. Dalton took Elyse's elbow again and sauntered toward the red Honda. He placed his knuckles on the hood.
"Cold. This car hasn't been moved recently."
"I wonder whose parking space this is? They usually have it marked on the curb, but it's dark, and the car is pulled too close for me to see."
