Chapter 51: Friend, Part 2

I dressed as quickly as possible and let the water drain out of the tub. Then, I used my towel to clean up the water I dripped onto the floor and turned to make sure everything was back in place. I grabbed the brush from the floor and quickly ran it through my hair, getting as many knots out as I possibly could. After a bit, I gave up then looked into the mirror. I looked presentable, which was good enough. My hair had grown, and I didn't have a drop of make up on, but I wasn't here for a beauty contest.

I ran down the hallway as quietly as I could, and then darted into our bedroom door, hoping I hadn't woken Timmy, but he was still fast asleep. He looked like an angel, oblivious to the vast carnage going on just a few miles away. And for that, I was thankful. He'd already been through enough. I walked into the kitchen, letting him sleep. My stomach was growling loudly, unable to be ignored.
