Ellie answered with a nod, smiling. "I will be back later to help you dress for bed."


"That will not be necessary, but come and chat with me, will you?" Briana asked. She liked this girl and, if she could manage it, Ellie may end up being the only friend she had within these castle walls. 


Ellie answered with a smile, curtsied, and then left the room. 


After she was sure Ellie was gone, Briana crossed the room and lifted the lid covering the serving tray. 


The tray was exquisite, adorned with flowers. A radish flower garnish on a lettuce leaf, resembling a rose, rested on the corner of the plate. The meal consisted of pheasant, potatoes, sweet carrots, and a few things she did not recognize, but looked delectable. She placed the lid back over the tray and then crossed the room to the window.
