Chapter 131: Protection, Part 2

Seth took a deep breath. He watched Briana sleep peacefully, but thoughts of her standing in the circle of flames kept interrupting his thoughts. He tried to push the images from his mind, but they kept creeping back. At that moment, he vowed that he would always be there to protect her. He couldn't go back home, but, then again, his mother was still in Pooler. If he didn't go back, what would happen to her?

Seth walked across the room and pulled a chair to Briana's bedside. He sat down for a bit, but couldn't rest as thoughts of her burning, his mother, Dracon, and Sir John dying in his arms came flooding into his mind. He rose from the chair and walked over to a flowered china water pitcher setting on the table in a matching basin. The pitcher was empty, so he took it and left the room, knowing that Briana would be thirsty when she awoke. When he opened the door, Dain was waiting on the other side.

"Get out of my way," Seth said, pushing past him.
