Chapter 119

At work the next day, I couldn't stop thinking of Logan and the confrontation with his mother. After leaving the mansion, I stopped in for a drink at a quiet lounge to think, and then I went straight home. I thought all night about Logan and whether or not I should call him. Knowing his mother, she'd probably send a hitman after me now. I decided to throw myself into my work and let the chips fall where they may.

As I spoke to client sitting across from me, a huge yawn escaped my lips. "I'm so sorry," I said. "I didn't much sleep last night."

He smiled; a kind elder gentleman. "That's all right, dear. After we're finished here, you go on home and get some sleep."

I smiled. "I wish I could, but I have more clients." I shook it off. "But that's all right. I'll sleep like a baby tonight."

"That's the spirit!" he said, giving me a kind smile.
