Chapter 58: Eruptions Over Dinner

Returning to the palace for dinner, Bae was surprised to find everyone waiting for her in the dining room. Adelaide's arms were crossed, anger radiating from her eyes, permeating her magical essence with a darkness that was unlike her. Armel looked uncomfortable, as if he'd just witnessed something he wished he hadn't and Kael was just as angry as his younger sister. The only one that looked to be enjoying themselves around the table was Aunt Ji. Either she was oblivious to everything around her or she was entertained by the bickering siblings. Bae's father and Adelaide's father were both sat back in their chairs wearing matching expressions of disappointment.

The silence was heavy as Bae took her seat. What's happened?

Kael tried to talk to Adelaide about the way she's been treating you, he explained. It didn't go down well.

"I've done nothing wrong," Adelaide blurted out.

"Really?" Kael retorted. "You don't think you've been disrespectful?"
