Kori was missing for the rest of the evening. Bae desperately wanted to go looking for him but neither Armel or Caspet thought that it was a good idea. They were insistent that he probably needed to be alone and remembering how she was when her mother died, she could hardly refute their logic. As Kumari, she had been unable to take the solace that she had at that time sought, but Kori could, and she would not deny it him.
So instead, she sat with everyone else around the campfire, listening to the Nunsmens' stories about Nunsalam, before going to her bed earlier than she usually would, emotionally drained.
She couldn't quite believe that the Nunman was gone. He had always seemed as much a part of the Realm as the magic that held it together. Bae didn't even know how old Nunsalam had been and yet he'd seemed to have years ahead of him, his age never having once restricted him.
