Chapter 64: I Don't Love Her

"I don't love her. I barely know her."

Love is a big word, one I've never used, not since Melody died.

"Yeah right." Michael chuckles. "Seriously? You might not yet, but you will."

"That's what my dad said." My words are quiet.

"Wise words." Michael grins. "You've got sh*t loads of stress going on with your folks, but you're sitting here talking about a girl. A girl you've known for all of a week. She means something and to deny that would be ridiculous."

"I don't want to care this much though."

"Then don't. Try and erase it if you want. Go back to what you had before. But believe me when I say that once you've been blinded by the light of the sun, you can no longer enjoy the stars."

"What does the even mean?" Jack grins like the kid he still is. For a guy who loves relationships, he's never professed his love to any of the girls he'd been with.
