Chapter 98: She Can Be So Naive

Landon's POV:

I hear the front door open.

"I'm in the kitchen," I call through to her.

She walks through and stands in the doorway looking at me. She's beautiful. Her hair is up in a messy bun, and she's barefoot.

"Aren't your feet cold?" I ask.

She nods.

"It's okay. I'm going to put some socks on in a sec."

"Have you eaten?"

"No." Her answer is quick.

"I'll make you a sandwich." I grin. "I was about to make myself one anyway."

"Thank you."

She smiles shyly at me. She's nervous. I don't know why but she's definitely nervous about something.

"So, what did you do with Aileen?" I wonder what's gotten her all flustered.

"Erm..." She backs out of the room. "I'm going to go put my socks on."

Her reaction to my question surprises me. Did she just blush?

I try to wait patiently. I make us both a cheese and pickle sandwich and pour us both a glass of sparkling water, before heading through to our bedroom.

"Aurora?"
