When I make it outside, Jarrod is already waiting for me. Except he's not alone. Landon and Aurora are stood talking to him.
F*ck's sake.
Aurora spots me first, offering me a gloomy smile. I want to scream at her to stop looking at me like that.
I don't want her f*cking pity!
Landon's expression gives nothing away when he nods hello to me. I find myself wondering if Aurora has told him, and if she has, if he has told Jarrod. I seriously hope not.
Jarrod's gives me a wide grin before pulling me in for a hug. I shrink away from it but after I count to five, I'm able to return it, pulling him closer, using him as comfort.
"Hey you," he says in that rich voice of his that balms my wounds.
"Hey," I say into his chest. I don't want to pull away, but we can't stand here all day, especially with Landon and Aurora stood in front of us.
"Right," Aurora says awkwardly, "we better get off. We're going to dinner with Landon's mum and dad tonight."
Jarrod laughs.
"Good luck."
