Chapter 280: I'm Freaking Out

She's nervous. Her hand is shaking in mine, her foot tapping on the hard floor. The sound echoes around the room. She fidgets in the cold plastic chair as we wait for the Detective Sergeant who is going to take Tallulah's statement.

I'm freaking out - not that I can let Tallulah know that. I'm here for her, to support her, to give her courage.

It's not that I don't want to be here. I do. It's just that its hit me that if she asks me to stay with her during the interview, I'm going to hear details. I'm terrified that I'm going to lose my sh*t and get in my car. I won't be running away though. I'll be driving on a mission to destroy the ars*hole that hurt the woman I love.

The Detective Sergeant that approaches us is a woman. She's young... happy... Smiling at her colleagues as she passes them, it's clear she's the sort of person who naturally puts you at ease.

Good. That's what Tallulah needs.

Tallulah stops breathing as the police officer stops in front of us.
