Chapter 283: Only You

The cold hits us square in the cheeks as we exit the pub. Tallulah's hair is caught up in the wind and so I take a second to gather it and tuck it under one of her many scarves.

I've never asked her why she wears so many every day. I've gotten used to it. It's just Tallulah. I'm not sure how I'll feel when we finally get to summer, and the scarves go away.

I don't think there's ever a moment that I don't feel compelled to kiss her. But right now, standing in front of her as I try to help her control her unruly, windswept curls I'm scared that I'll only get one kiss tonight. I'm scared that I'll walk her home and have to say goodnight.

Looking up at me, her eyes are hungry.

"Aurora wanted to have a sleep over."

Her words disappoint me.

Is she asking me to take her back to hers and leave her there?

"I don't want that though," she continues. "I just want to be with you."
