Chapter 29

An hour passed and the house was trashed. Not damaged or destroyed physically, but it was like Neates House was a full-sized countryside snow globe that had been shaken by a toddler. Piles of the house's once-organised contents were strewn around each room. Clothes were in bundles on the floor and chairs were stacked-up against the walls. Fraser walked the length of the ground floor, inspecting each room. The officers stood still in their respective domain, waiting for the order to move upstairs. Nothing had yet been seized as evidence, and, unsurprisingly, no bodies had been found in jacket pockets.
