Chapter 68

The reception is a success! The room is beautiful. With a delicate arrangement of pink peonies on every table, a white sash on the back of every chair and a large chandelier hanging in the centre of the room, it is glamorous. The food caused me a bit of grief though. The chicken skewers were slightly colder than I would have liked, and the pork came out ten minutes late. Nonetheless, all the food is finished, every single morsel and not one guest has complained about being hungry at the end of the night.

The real showstopper was the cake, and I'm glad I persevered with using Linda because it was absolutely delicious. With five layers of cream filled French Vanilla sponge, the delicately tiered cake was then topped off with balsamic strawberries and pink cream roses. Like a work of art, it was painful to see it cut up and it was easily consumed by all the guests in a snap.
