She had felt the same. He knew that now, although she didn't say so at first. She had been pleased to see him waiting for her there on the steps and she had taken him to the little park and they had talked, she pulling her little nurse's cape close against the evening chill.

"Let me take you for supper," he had said. And she had gone with him, just like that. No arguments or protestations. She put her hand in his trustingly and they had walked to a nearby café. He couldn't now remember which one. He tried to visualise it, but he could only see her face, glowing in the light of the candle as she told him about herself.
