Chapter 45: Joe

Elizabeth took Joe's hand. "That's a good thing, isn't it, Joe?"

He shrugged again. "You know, I don't know. One minute I am burying my dad, and now I am-well, hell, I don't know anything right now."

Elizabeth let go of Joe's hand. "So, what do we do now?"

"Well, they want me to bring in more of my shots tomorrow."

Joe took a deep breath, "If I do this, that means, well, I guess I have to go through the rest of the photos I have out in my darkroom."

Elizabeth looked at Joe's eyes; she could see his distress. She put her hands on either side of his face and softly held him there, making him look her in the eyes.

"Look, Joe, I know this is going to be tough and I know you have been through a lot, but I think this could be really good for you. You have kept the past locked up in that box out there for too long."

Joe scoffed. "Oh, I get it, face the past and deal with the memories. Hell, you stopped me from going through them the other day, and now it's a promising idea."
