Elisa Nunez sprang from the bed as the door to the cabin crashed open and a man charged insidethe man who'd killed her father! Grabbing a blanket from the bed, she held it up to cover her torn petticoat and backed against the wall, terrified.
"You killed mi padre." She managed to squeak out.
Ignoring her, he scanned the cabin, his gaze halting on the tattered remains of her gown and bodice littering the floor. His features tightened. "Where is Collier?"
"He left." Elisa glanced at the open door behind him, longing to make a dash for it.
"How long ago?"
"Not longa minute perhaps."
He glanced into the hallway, then closed the door and approached her.
Her breath caught in her throat. Not again! I cannot do this again. She braced herself for the pirate's attack, but instead he stopped and whispered, "Your father is not dead, se?orita."
"Not dead?" She stared into eyes as dark as the night. "But you stabbed him."
