Chapter 94: Resurrection, Part 2

Charlisse stormed into her cabin, slamming and locking the door behind her. Stumbling to the bed, she collapsed in a heap, releasing a gush of tears.

"Lord, why? Why did you make me face him with his woman?" she sobbed, gasping for breath.

His eyesthose dark, piercing eyeshad looked at her with such shock, but also such love, just as they used to do.

"How am I to bear it? How can I allow him to look at me like that when I know he's been with another?"

Oh God, help me.

Charlisse curled into a ball and hugged herself. Sorrow consumed her heart as visions of her husband taunted herthat handsome face, strong and commanding. Yet hadn't she seen a hint of pain tugging at his eyes?

He had reached for herhad opened his arms for her embrace. Oh, how she'd wanted to run into them, to feel his strength and assurance surround her again.

A chill crossed over her. Those same arms have held another. Those lips have kissed another.
