Chapter 47: writer's block, part 2

He watched as a young lady with long thin black hair stepped up to the counter at the coffee stand. He thought about his favorite cup of liquid energy, a double espresso with an extra shot of caffeine and it had been a long time since he enjoyed one.The clerk behind the register smiled at the girl. Her purple-dyed ponytail swayed behind her as she bopped her head to the jazz music playing on the airport radio.

As the order escaped the woman's mouth, Lyle heard his physician's words in the back of his mind.Lay low, relax, get away from everything, no stress and by all means, no alcohol or caffeine.

"On second thought," the young woman said to the purple-haired cashier, "change it to a decaf tea."The barista smiled again and handed her the cup of unsatisfyingly appropriate flavored hot water.Lyle noticed how the string and label of the tea hung over the side of cup, appearing as though the barista forgot to remove the tag from the purchase.
