Chapter 43: An Arabesque of Motley, Part 43

REFLECTION of WARD COURIER

July, 2009

To me, beauty and sex appeal are not always identical. I've seen really sexy women you wouldn't call beautiful. I've seen very pretty women who just didn't project to me the sensuality that made them magnetic.

I could never put a precise feel on Lys' look. She had a bit of the Christie Brinkley/classic-Euro-features type of beauty - pert nose, oval face, well-spaced eyes - but there was something darker and earthier in her. She had the mannerisms of a woman who had always been attractive, who knew she was always going to be attractive, and who didn't give a damn about being attractive. It was the most languid form of winsomeness I had ever seen in a woman. I'd seen women just as pretty. We all have. I'd never seen any for whom it came so easy.
