NARRATIVE of WARD COURIER

October, 2009

SOUTH WALES and BUFFALO, NY

I had talked reassuringly to the others after the shooting in the studio, but I had a tough night, as you might imagine. I don't remember any dreams, but I didn't sleep well.

I got up later than usual, as was one of the perks of a day off at that school. I showed up none too early at my classroom and found the assistant headmaster inside the door, talking amicably with a couple of my students.
