Author, teacher, storyteller, and supernatural historian Mason Winfield studied English and Classics at Denison University, earned a master’s degree in British literature at Boston College, and studied poetry and fiction at SUNY Buffalo with professor emeritus and MacArthur grant recipient Irving Feldman. He has written or edited fourteen books, including the regional sensation “Shadows of the Western Door” (1997) and “Iroquois Supernatural,” co-authored with Michael Bastine, on the traditions of the Six Longhouse Nations (Inner Traditions International/Bear & Company, 2011). "Let's presume this is one of those situations," said Davis. "We think the drug could have a South American origin. The drug itself is so rare that we think its raw materials could be limited to a single region. Its production could even be confined to a single site. With a bit more information we might be able to shut it off at the production point. We think that Buffalo, New York, has become the North American distribution base for it."


"That does appear to be the case," said Davis. "We haven't found it anywhere else in North America in a situation that wasn't traceable to this community. That's why we need to find out who is distributing it around here."


"Have you analyzed the stuff?" I said. "What do they make it out of?"
