Feeling of Danger

Selena passed the whole weekend thinking about that day at Lucas’ house. She just couldn’t take him off of her mind.

She didn’t have much to do at home. Her grandmother was away, Maddie was busy with only God knows what, and it’s not like she had many friends anyway.

She seized that opportunity to try and learn how to control her powers. But no matter how hard she tried, she wasn’t able to ignite the powers to appear.

Apparently they just showed up when she was in a dangerous situation and with her life at risk.

Frustrated, she decided to take a walk at her father’s house surroundings, since she didn’t think it was going to be a good idea to walk around the city by herself.

After the ambush, and after her grandmother’s warning, Selena thought it would be better to lay low for a while.

She was walking near a small lake inside the forest when she detected a familiar scent.

It was him.

The same wolf that ambushed her the other day, the same wolf that attacked her on the forest the first time she discovered her powers.

Now she could not be mistaken.

But she wasn’t seeing him anywhere.

She was not sensing any other smell, but she also couldn’t be sure if he was alone or not.

Maybe there were others far from there, waiting to attack, that’s why she couldn’t sense their presences.

A few seconds passed while Selena was trying to make a decision.

She wouldn’t stay there to be attacked in the middle of nowhere. But at the same time she couldn’t go back home. What if someone got hurt because of her?

She wouldn’t forgive herself.

At that moment, only one person came into her mind. If she wasn’t in that tense situation, she would’ve laughed.

The only person she could think of in that moment was Lucas.

She didn’t have time to think why. Why would she think of him in a moment like that?

Selena simply followed her instincts and started to run. She went deep into the woods, taking a short cut to where Lucas lived.

It was not very far, but she was starting to get scared.

Her grandmother almost begged for her to hide her powers and stay out of trouble while she was away. And Selena knew that she wouldn’t be able to control herself if he attacked her again.

That was pissing her off. How much longer would she be followed? Why were they following her and stalking her on the first place?

A little voice inside her head kept repeating the same thing she already knew. She was certain it had to do with those powers, but she didn’t know what they were planning.

She kept running, hoping that Lucas would be able to help her. Selena couldn’t think clearly in that moment, but she also couldn’t ignore the fact that Lucas was the first person she thought when she needed help.

He had the ability to make her feel safe. His eyes calmed her. She remembered how she felt when she was on his arms, and it had been the best feeling she had ever felt.

She was really close now. She could almost feel that scent she was starting to love so much. Just a few more steps and she would be able to leave all that fear behind.

The sun was setting behind the trees on the forest and it was getting dark.

But out of nowhere, she saw a human form in front of her, on the other side of the forest glade.

And then everything started to make a little more sense. He was the same guy that was watching her on the street when she was drunk the other night. He was the brownish wolf that ambushed her. They were the same person.

And then she thought that if Lucas didn’t show up the other night and took her home, who knows what would have happened to her?

The guy was getting near with each step he took now, and Selena didn’t know what else to do.

She was so close from Lucas’ house. She studied the possibilities of screaming for him. Would he listen to her?
