Selena opened her eyes feeling her head as heavy as a watermelon. For a few minutes, she couldn’t figure out where she was.
Then her sight adjusted to the light, and she saw herself lying on Grandma’s bed.
The room was very dark, with just a ray of light coming from the hallway under the door.
Apparently it was night, but she didn’t know of which day. How long had she slept?
She tried to get out of the bed, but her whole body was sore and she noticed a few bandages around her legs and wrists.
And then all the memories from the war came back at her like a hurricane. All those images filled her mind again and Selena started to cry.
She cried so much and so loud, that her whole body trembled from her sobbing.
Someone entered the bedroom in a hurry and hugged her, but she couldn’t see who it was. Her sight was blurred and she couldn’t even pay attention to the newcomer.
And apparently they put something on her vein and she slept again.
