╰┈➤ ❝the crew❞
Wooyoung and the others had eaten and now they were playing games at the table. Mingi was, once again, losing against everyone else, Yunho laughing at his silliness. The newcomer was actually quite happy with the others and felt like this was where he truly belonged. There were a lot of mysteries yet to be revealed, and he had even more questions in his head.
He quietly sat next to Jongho who was yelling at Mingi to calm down or else he would leave the others to gather the cards and clean up after the game. Suddenly, an idea came into Wooyoung's head. Maybe he could ask some questions from the others.
So, he coughed loudly to get everyone's attention, awkwardly fidgeting with his fingers as the others turned to look at him. "Uh, so... I have some questions to ask from you guys." He mumbled, Yunho furrowing his eyebrows since he didn't hear anything. "Questions. Can I ask you guys some questions?" He repeated himself more clearly, this time gaining a small nod from everyone.
Mingi grinned, clinging onto Yunho's arm. "Sure! You can ask us anything!" He smiled widely. Wooyoung really adored that wide smile. It showed how pure and kind Mingi really was, and of course very caring too. "Is there anything particular you wanted to ask? The brunette tilted his head in curiosity.
Wooyoung thought for a hot minute before widening his eyes a little. "I want to know about the crew!" He smiled. "How did you end up with San?" He asked enthusiastically.
What he didn't expect, was how quiet the other would get after he said that. The wide grin Mingi had a few seconds ago had faded and it had been replaced with a small frown. Jongho opened his mouth to say something but closed it before saying anything, dropping his gaze to his lap. And lastly Yunho. He was practically frozen next to Mingi, not even blinking.
Wooyoung flinched as he saw how the atmosphere in the kitchen had drastically changed from happy to serious. "D- did I say something wrong?" He whispered carefully, glancing at every individual at the table. Everyone kept quiet, making Wooyoung feel even more bad than a minute ago. "If I said something I shouldn't have, please tell me." He said quietly, standing up and walking to the door.
Yunho was the first one to recover, blinking a few times before standing up in hurry. "Wooyoung! Stop." He sighed, closing his eyes in thought. "You didn't say anything wrong, don't worry-"
"Yunho." Mingi interrupted. "He did, don't deny it."
Yunho widened his eyes, not believing what Mingi had just said. "Wha-" He gasped quietly. "You have no right to say that on my behalf, Mingi. My feelings, my choice." He furrowed his brows. "So, Wooyoung. Sit back down so we can talk-"
"No, it's okay, I get it." Wooyoung smiled sadly, Yunho frowning at him. "I can't force anyone to talk." He sighed, grabbing the door knob and twisting it. Although, his body almost flew backwards when San and Hongjoong decided to enter the room at the same time. Everyone watched the scene happen with widened eyes, laughing their asses off when Wooyoung hit the ground with a loud thud.
San and Hongjoong were startled to see Wooyoung flying in the air towards the ground. San gasped and rushed to help the newcomer up from the floor, chuckling at his silliness. "You okay?" He chuckled, patting the other's clothes to get rid of the dust in them. "Sorry we barged in just as you were about to leave." He laughed.
Wooyoung gave San a warm smile and waved him off. "It's fine, I didn't see that coming either." He chuckled nervously. San realized something was off about Wooyoung the second he came in. The other looked uncomfortable for some reason and he had no idea why. "I'll just... leave you with the others." He sighed, walking towards the door. "See you guys later." He flashed a small smile at everyone and left the kitchen.
San closed his eyes, letting out a loud sigh which everyone heard. Wooyoung's mood affected his own mood, and it showed. His aura changed immediately when Wooyoung had left, making the others weary of their captain. "So, anyone care to explain what the fuck just happened there?" He opened his eyes, a crease forming between his eyebrows as he furrowed them.
Yunho was the first one to open his mind, not seeing a point in staying silent. "He uh... wanted to ask us some questions..." He started, avoiding San's intense gaze. "And he might've asked a question we didn't saw coming... so, it startled us a little bit..." He added with a frown, looking at Mingi who seemed to be in deep thought.
San rolled his eyes in annoyance, somewhat irritated because of the whole situation that was occurring. "So, he asked you a question. What does that have to do with anything?" He asked, glancing at Mingi and Jongho who hadn't said a word yet. "What did he ask?"
"He asked how we got here." Mingi blurted out suddenly, staring right at San. "You know very well some of us don't want to talk about that." He huffed, standing up and grabbing Yunho's arm. "We're leaving-"
"No! Mingi, we're not." Yunho said angrily. "Like I said, don't talk about my things on my behalf!" He scoffed, taking Mingi's hand away from his arm and sitting back down, shoving the brunette next to him.
San watched the two interact with a raised eyebrow. "He asked how you got here?" He tilted his head. "And how did you react to that, huh? Did you get quiet and say nothing? You think that wouldn't make Wooyoung feel bad at all??" He raised his voice out of nowhere.
The whole room got quiet again, San's heavy breathing being the only thing that could be heard. The others definitely felt bad for Wooyoung, of course they didn't want to make him feel bad about himself. The painful silence must have been scary for the newcomer, especially when he doesn't even know the crew that well.
"I think we need to apologize to him and tell him." Jongho said suddenly, standing up to face the captain. San was surprised when the youngest spoke, a small grin making its way to his lips right after. "I think we owe him an explanation, don't you think?" He glanced at Yunho and Mingi with a raised eyebrow, gaining a small nod from them. "Alright, let's go y'all."

Of course Wooyoung felt bad. And to be honest, he understood the others because he didn't want to talk about his past either. The only person he had ever told about his past was, indeed, San. He had no idea what made San so trustworthy, but he trusted that San would never talk about his past without his consent, so that was enough.
He just wanted to know more about the crew and how they got together as a group. Was it wrong of him to be so curious? Apparently it was, since Yunho and the others reacted to his question like that earlier. "Did I say something bad..?" He whispered to himself, sighing and leaning on the edge, watching the waves hit the ship.
It was quite peaceful to watch the small islands pass by the ship, the water moving to every direction. Wooyoung closed his eyes and sat down on the deck, listening to the waves and wind in peace.
He always wanted to travel the world. There were a lot of places he wanted to travel when he was still on Earth, but now he had no idea where he was nor where the ship was going. He actually had no idea what the destination was right now, which scared him a little. It was all starting to feel like a dream.
"Wooyoung?" A voice called out from behind him. "Are you okay?"
Wooyoung slowly opened his eyes and looked up, spotting the familiar purple eyes the captain. "San?" He asked, standing up and walking over to him. "What are you doing here?
"I came to check on you." San said, leaning on the edge to look at the sea. "Yunho explained why you're upset.."
Wooyoung looked away, not wanting to meet those purple eyes. If he did, he'd start to ramble about everything again, and he didn't want to bother San with his random rambling, again. "I'm not upset, don't worry." He finally responded, joining San and glancing at the waves.
"Are you sure?"
Wooyoung didn't answer, instead, he just nodded and kept looking at the beautiful scenery in front of him. He heard San sighing next to him, and soon he felt an arm wrap around his waist, bringing him closer to San.
They kept quiet for a while before San turned the younger around to face him. "Stop worrying me so much, Woo." San smiled sadly, taking the other's hand in his. "I know you want to learn about the crew and get to know them, but you have to be patient with them, okay?" He kissed the top of other's hand.
Wooyoung felt his cheeks heat up at the pet name. San laughed, moving closer to Wooyoung's head and giving his forehead a little peck. "Everyone looked really shocked when I asked the question..." Wooyoung sighed, looking down for a minute. "I feel like I messed up." He said, burying his head into the crook of San's neck, closing his eyes.
San hummed, hugging the other tightly. "Everyone's got a past, and some of them aren't ready to talk about it." He said softly, reaching for Wooyoung's head with his hand and moving his fingers trough his hair. "Some of them haven't even told me."
Wooyoung hummed, raising his head to look at San. "Can I ask something?" He smiled widely, San giving him a small nod as a response. "How old are they? Your crew, I mean."
San thought for a while. "Jongho is the youngest of us and he's 18 right now. I met him two years ago when our ship went off-course and crashed into an island." He laughed, remembering the incident. Wooyoung gave him a questioning look but nodded anyways. "Me and Hongjoong have been friends for years. I met him when I was 7 years old. He's 22."
"And how old are you now?" Wooyoung raised an eyebrow at the other. "I'm turning 20 in a week, actually." He tilted his head in thought.
San widened his eyes in surprise but smiled right after. "I'm 20, too. So, I've known Hongjoong for 13 years." He explained, taking a quick glance at the sea next to him. "Yunho and Mingi are my age, and you already know how old Yeosang is."
"How are all of you so young?" Wooyoung chuckled. "You're sailing away in the open ocean. Why did you even get a ship in the first place?" He asked, San blinking a few times before frowning at Wooyoung's question. "You don't wanna tell?" Wooyoung pouted.
"It's a discussion for another day, but don't worry, I'll tell you about it later." San smiled somewhat sadly. The look San was giving Wooyoung made him confused. Why did he seem so... sad all of a sudden? It just made him more curious if anything. He wanted answers, not more question.
Wooyoung hadn't even asked where they were going, and maybe he should have asked. Even though he trusted San a lot, he couldn't help but feel this mysterious aura when he was around the taller. It made him intrigued and he wanted to know more about San. But the other made it really hard with his secrecy.
"Woo, don't worry about it." San repeated himself, cupping the other's cheeks with his hands. They shared a few silent minutes staring at each other under the burning sun. "I'm going to tell you very soon when we get to our destination, alright?" He smiled widely. "I'm not planning on hiding anything from you."
Wooyoung of course knew this already and wanted to believe the other's words, but his secrecy made it very hard for him to believe. "I know, San. It's just... you being quiet about everything isn't very convincing..." He sighed. "But I trust you, San. I trust your words and that you will tell me everything when the right time comes, so I will be patient until then."
San grinned widely, suddenly leaning towards Wooyoung. They pressed their foreheads together, feeling each others breaths on their skin. Both of their hearts were beating fast and the feeling of the other being close was enough for them. They were happy at this moment and that was exactly what made them trust each other.
San opened his eyes to look at the breathtaking Wooyoung who was still smiling with his eyes closed, close as ever to his own face. No word could describe the feeling he felt at this exact moment, he was happy, and in love with the most beautiful person in the universe.
"You know... the others ordered me to say sorry in their place." San laughed softly. "Especially Yunho. He felt really bad." He added, wrapping his arms around Wooyoung's waist. "And I'm sorry too, if I've said something to hurt you."
Wooyoung's smile widened, his eyes still closed. San smiled back and closed his eyes, letting out a long sigh on contentment. "It's okay, San. You've said nothing to make me feel bad." The other reassured. "And Yunho did nothing wrong. I can somewhat understand him if something actually happened in the past."
"I'm glad..." San replied with a chuckle, leaning in for a soft kiss. The warm feeling of Wooyoung's lips against his made San sigh in happiness. He couldn't have asked for anything else at this moment.
