Chapter 1

This is a story of a war which was passed down from gods to humans. Through the possession of human bodies, Angels and Demons alike fight each other over an ancient ordeal dating over 1,000 years. This war started from Lucifer's never ending grudge over his father, eventually cursing all who resided in the Golden Road. Due to the Devil's power being toxic to most human bodies, he has had only 1 successful summoner, though was only able to reach 20% of his true power, until finally, a new successor for his strength comes into the midst.

I'd like to say that I live a pretty normal life, I go to high school everyday and after school I go to work at my part time job. About a year ago, my parents started working double of what they usually do, leaving me and my little sister alone, only sending us money to keep on going, it's up to me to take care of her. Besides that, I have friends and I play video games, which is also pretty normal. But after that day, I lost that now nostalgic feeling of normalcy.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

" Ugh, another alarm means another day of school."

He reluctantly gets up out of bed and gets dressed. And enters his sister's room after knocking.

" Nadia! Get up! We have school"

" Fine… I'll get up.."

After waking his sister up, he enters the kitchen with his sister coming in not long after. He prepares breakfast for the both of them and they get ready to go to school.

" Let's go brother!"

" OK we're ready."

The two of them head out of the home and after walking to the school, they part ways for the school day. Adir's friend Alex comes up to him and says,

" Let's move, we're gonna be late!"

The two friends arrive to class and as the school day starts, Adir takes notes and listens to his teachers, like a good student. Lunch time comes around and Alex and Adir head to the cafeteria. The two of them get school lunch and sit down and start talking.

" Hey Adir, can I come today to watch the new episode of Two Pieces?"

" Sure, just make sure to come before the episode starts ok?"

The two friends keep on talking and eventually their lunch break ends. They went to the rest of their classes and before they knew it, the school day had ended.

" Nadia! Let's go!" Adir says

" OK I'm ready!"

Adir and his sister walk home, asking about each other's day, conversing on the walk home. Once they arrive, the two take their shoes off bringing both bags upstairs and starting on the homework they had that day. After a while, Adir hears his sister calling out to him on the other side of the house.

" Adir!! My head hurts, can you get me some medicine?"

" Sure, give me a minute!"

As Adir walks to the door of his room, he feels a sensation in his head, almost like a hammer is bashing its way into his skull.

" It hurts…"

He tries to get up but he eventually drifts out of consciousness, unaware of what is about to take place.

" Hello Adir"

Adir slowly opens his eyes as he eventually sees a figure before him. A man with greyed skin, red eyes and with horns throughout his body appears in front of him.

" Who are you!!" Adir yells

" Calm down already, it's not like you can move right now anyway, so just listen to me"

Adir looks down to see himself sitting, but notices that he can only move his neck up, only able to talk to his captor.

" Now, let me introduce myself, I am Lucifer, and from today on, we will be working together."

" What did you do to me? Why can't I move? You better not have touched my sister!"

" Relax, you're fine, I just placed a spell on your body, just let me explain."

" OK fine, I'll let you explain

" Great, now, to begin I'll start with what I am. I am the Lord of Demons, Diablo, the Devil, whatever, but that doesn't matter much right now. I have chosen you to be my next summoner, and by surprise, you survived the power ceremony-"

" Hold on a minute, before you continue, can you tell me what the hell is a power ceremony?!"

Lucifer ponders about this for a minute but soon comes to an answer.

" Essentially, when a Demon selects a human to inherit their power, the human must go through a power ceremony, and if they are able to survive the 1st step of inheritance known as the power ceremony, the human does not die and becomes the inheritor of said demon's power, so congratulations! You survived the 1st step of becoming the Devil of this world."

Adir takes in all of the information that has been spouted out at him, slowly beginning to understand what is happening and asks,

" But what about my sister?! Is she okay?"

" Now, this is where the trouble begins, see, my younger sister Freda has taken over your sister's body and is already well on her way to the Golden Road."

" Where the hell is the Golden Road?! Also, if she can take over my sister's body, why didn't you just do that to me?"

" Hmm… That's a hard one.. The Golden Road is kinda like Heaven, and it's not that I don't want to take over your body, it's just that I'm unable to without you allowing me too. That means that my sister manipulated yours into letting her take over her body…"

" No… no… I don't believe you! You liar!"

" Believe what you want, just know this, if you stick with me, we can get your sister back, just know that it's not an easy task…"

" Ok… If we can really get her back, what's my first step?"

" Good, good… Well we have to go meet a certain man, but before that get a bag ready.'

Adir nods his head in agreement to Lucifer and starts to prepare a bag. Adir looks at the time and notices that it's 7:00 and realizes that Alex should be at his house around this time and hears his front door open.

" Yo Adir! You better not have started that episode without me!!"

Alex looks around to see mostly all the lights in the house turned off, with only the lights in Adir's room turned on. He heads over to the door and hears Adir talking to someone.

" So, Lucifer, who is this guy we need to mee-"

Alex looks around the door to see Adir hastily packing a bag and appears to be talking to himself.

" Adir, why are you talking to yourself? Did you just call something Lucifer?! Are you a chuunibyou or something??"

" Damn it… I forgot he was coming over today.."

" Adir, do you want me to reveal myself to your friend?"

" You can do that?!"

"Of course I can! Just hold on to his arm."

Adir grabs on to Alex's arm and tells him to not yell or scream as a grey horned creature is revealed to him.

" Adir…. So this is what you meant by Lucifer huh.."

" So we have two options, one, we can kill him, or he can join us as a gatekeeper." Lucifer says

" Obviously the second option! Also, what's a gatekeeper?" Adir says

" Adir, look at your chest, do you see the marks on it?"

" Yeah… there's seven, why do you ask?"

As Lucifer and Adir talk, Alex listens to what they're talking about and says,

" Adir? You better not kill me right now, at least let me be a side character!!"

" Alex, you could literally die and you're worried about that?!"

" Could you two shut it?! Let me explain!"

The two of them stop their bickering when Lucifer snaps and both simultaneously say,

" Ok.."

" Finally, you two are quiet… So to break things down simply, one of the powers you are granted as my summoner Adir is to select 7 people into a group called the Seven Gatekeepers. How we do this is by conducting a ritual that takes one of those seals on your chest and transferring it to someone by your own free will. Since your friend here doesn't already have a summon, he would have a 25% chance of dying from this ritual."

" Alex, do you want to do thi-"

" OF COURSE I DO!" Alex exclaims

" You'll kill me either way and I have a chance of getting an awesome power too!!"

" So now that that's settled, lets begin. Alex, put your index finger on the top seal on Adir's chest."

Nothing happens and Alex gives Lucifer a weird face as if he made him do that for no reason.

" Adir, say out loud I wish to make the person standing before me a member of the seven."

The top seal that Alex's finger was on turned to a pitch black energy and wrapped around his finger, reaching up his arm, stopping at his shoulder. When this finishes, the seal that was once there disappears.

" Whoa… well I guess survived!"

" Alex, now that you have become a gatekeeper, you need to know something, your life will never be the same again." Lucifer tells him

" I get that, but Adir is my friend and I can't just leave him to do this alone! And also, what else am I gonna do, my life is boring!"

After that, Lucifer tells him about the man they need to meet and the two friends get ready, unbeknownst of the mountain of trouble that lies ahead...
