Once the bell rang for the third time, the woman had Ron stop and went to get his papers. As she glanced at the front page, she frowned slightly and looked at Ron with a curious gaze. He didn't return the gaze and instead asked her if he could go. Of course, she let him go. She had no reasons to keep him here. So, Ron left.

As for her, she returned to her desk. She had been tasked to deal with the entire examination and that included grading the papers. She had predicted that she would need the entire morning for this but as she turned the pages, she realized how wrong she had been. This kid didn't answer a single question and spent his time doodling. He wasn't even good at drawing. Those were drawings that a five-years-old could do.

Was he making fun of her? Of the establishment? Of the government?

She wondered what was wrong with the kid's head. Then, she took the files on him that she hadn't read entirely previously. As teacher here, she saw so many students come and go that she rarely took the time to read the entire files. After all, every classroom contained close to forty students, was there a need to know them all? She got curious about this one though. She read that he had worked as a car engineer and head of project for a rather correct company. After she saw such information, she didn't bother looking further. There was no need. To such a man, this kind of exam should have been incredibly easy.

Yet, he doodled.

So, she curiously picked the files again and began to read. The further on she read, the deeper she frowned. Once she finally finished reading, she threw the files down and hurriedly took out her phone. She called the Head of Admission.

The first few minutes were about her cursing at him for his shamelessness. She was a teacher and a human. How could she tolerate such a thing to happen to such a poor talented young man? This file described disasters after disasters.

Then, the head asked her how he did during the test and she explained how he didnt even care and doodled, likely due to what was in store for him. The kid knew they were stuck with him and he was stuck here. Since he was being forcefully enrolled as a soldier after graduation, it was quite likely that he planned not to graduate.

They discussed for a long time before the head cut her off saying that he would take care of things.

After she finished this conversation, she hesitated before she dialed Grey's number. He should probably be told about it as well…

Meanwhile, the head of admission was having a big headache. He did expect the kid to give them some trouble but minor ones. He certainly didn't expect for him to blow up the very first test they gave him in such a way. Now, he wasn't sure how to deal with him.

At first, the government wished to send him into the war engineering department. Since he would join the military right after graduation and he was considered a talented student, it was fine to do so. However, if he had such a reaction to it all… It could prove to be more dangerous than anything. This was a place where engineers studied weaponry. And clearly, this kid had a rebellious attitude. Giving the tools to make weapons to such a kid wouldn't be a good idea…

He sighed.

He didn't know what to do. He knew however that the repercussions could be big. He decided to let the higher-ups decided and dialed for the headmaster on his wrist-com. He ended up getting linked to the headmaster's secretary who told him that he would be recontacted shortly.

Moments later, his wrist-com buzzed. The headmaster was on the other end. He began to explain the situation and the headmaster answered: "Don't we have a vacant position in the attendant department? Send him there"

The head of admission frowned. The attendant department was where the acolytes of the augmented were studying. They were all powerful soldiers-to-be. It had nothing to do with engineering there. He questioned the headmaster on his decision. And the answer he was given hit him hard: "At least, he might be useful a little over there"

That's how the conversation ended and the kid was placed in the attendant department. The head of admission gave a small prayer for the kid. It had truly been a bad idea for him to doodle instead of answering the questions. Now, he would be sent over there…

Attendants were soldiers without much augments but who worked alongside the augments. And the augments were sent on the most dangerous of missions. In fact, the attendants were the soldiers with the highest death rate, very few surviving more than a few rounds.

The only reason they had students in such departments was due to hope. There weren't that many spaces available for students in the augment department. Only the best of the best were allowed in. Those who failed to get in there joined the attendants, hoping to have an opportunity to switch later on. Of course, it rarely happened and most of those poor youths ended up going to war as attendants only to die alongside true augmented.

That being said, enrolling in the department didn't mean enrolling in the army. So, many students just left after graduation and went back to work on other things, giving up their dreams of heroism.

It would be different for this kid though. As soon as he would graduate, he would be sent to the frontlines as an attendant.

The head of admission muttered: "I feel like I am sealing his fate…"
