Waiting

She lays there enjoying the moment, the feel of his body against hers. He doesn't say or do anything and for that she's grateful; it doesn't make her feel pressured to do anything. More than that, she understands that it's up to her to make the first move. She has to be the one that leads, the one that seduces and somehow she knows this.

She lets her new powers flow around her, feeling him from the inside out. She can't hear his thoughts though she can feel the hint of desire coming from him. She can feel that he's fed himself well today.

Last night he told her that he hangs out at clubs and feeds off of the sexual energies that are a part of every club around the world. It's enough to keep one a reliable flow of energy, but a good feed requires one on one. The level of his energy tells her that he took another lover earlier. She knows that it should bother her that he'd been with someone else already today, but it doesn't. She can only think about how nice it is that his energy level was up because she could feed without hurting him. That last bit of knowledge almost scares her, as if it were someone else in her body thinking and reacting.

She moves her hips a little to one side and feels his breath skip and his erection grow against her. His reaction sweeps through her, leaving a trail of flames that is almost too much on her already sensitive body. She shudders and comes from his desire, bringing him with her. They are connected and responding to each other. He chuckles and moves the hair out of her face. "Is that it for the night?"

"No."

She smiles and moves back to sit at the other end of the couch. She continues to smile as she stands and slips off her skirt, leaving herself completely nude. She points at him and motions for him to come closer as she steps off the couch. He stands, stripping off the rest of his clothes as he follows her.

When he's away from the couch she holds out her hand, telling him to stop and drops down on all fours. She cant really explain the things that she's doing except that her instincts seem to be driving her, telling her what she should do. Edward hasn't said anything about her body or her mind knowing what should be done.

Slowly she crawls over to him, their eyes locked and desire arc's between them. She can feel his desire rise as the distance between them disappears. She stops as she reaches him and lets her gaze travel down to stop at his cock which is only half erect. She wants to see him full, wants to know he wants her. She blows at his cock as she kneels in front of him.

She slips her tongue out and touches the tip of his cock, just a light touch, but it's enough to make him grow. Her smile broadens and she kisses him then slips her mouth over the head and then further down the shaft. Her hands move from his hips down to play with his balls, to move them around in her hands. She brings all of him into her mouth then pulls back until only the smallest portion of him is in her mouth then sucks on him as if he were a piece of candy.

She looks up to see Edward close his eyes and throw his head back. She can feel him shudder, feel his desire rise. Images drift through her mind, she cannot put names to them or even clear thought but it's something from his past. Does this mean he has a weak point? That I can see into his mind? She wonders to herself as she files the information to the back of her mind.

She moves him in and out of her mouth in a steady rhythm, taking time to let her teeth graze his tender flesh. Leona lets her desire blend with his and fans the flames until she could swear that steam rises from their bodies. When that fire washes over them and Edward finds his release she pulls back and sits down, licking her lips. Edward sinks to his knees in front of her.

"You're a wicked little thing, Leona."

She laughs, surprised at her own behavior but enjoying it at the same time. She feels bolder than she's ever felt before, more willing to try things. She feels high on his desire, on her own.

"Maybe, I know I feel high."

He leans forward, forcing her to lay on her back on the floor. He nuzzles her neck then bites her gently.

"The first few days are always like that. They settle after a while, become easier to control."

Without warning he thrust himself inside her, she shudders beneath him and her hips move encouragingly. He thrusts hard and fast. It doesn't take long for her to come and she feels as if the slightest breeze against her body would push her over the edge again.

They lay together on the floor, time has little meaning and could slip by entirely without either caring. In this moment Leona can feel her mind clearing of the cobwebs that have grown in it her entire life. She might be upset at Edward in a small way for changing her. If she's being honest with herself it is changes within her that is feeding her soul and slowly making her stronger, braver.

"How is it that you don't need to rest in between? I always thought that men had to, you know, wait a while in between."

"I'm an Incubus, desire is food and I'm always hungry."

She laughs and the feeling is wonderful.

"That must be why I feel so hungry. I don't think I've ever felt so hungry, or so sated, in my whole life."

****

He caresses her cheek tenderly, almost reverently. Within him emotions wage war, feelings from the past suddenly surface and threaten to shatter his careful existence. He's spent too long learning to control his emotions, too much time and work has gone into giving him peace of mind.

The loss of his mistress had shattered everything within him. Edward isn't certain that he could survive something like that again, that he could give himself so completely to another.

For reasons he can't be certain of he's finding that Leona is growing on him. Maybe it's just the fact that he hasn't been with another of his kind in over a thousand years. The coming together of his kind is explosive. Pleasure is magnified a hundred times. There are reasons humans become obsessed with them. Why do I feel this way? Mistress, you were my only love. Can it be that my heart has enough room in it to love again…

"A joining of our kind is an amazing thing, Leona. We feel things far stronger than any human could ever imagine. That's why humans can sometimes become addicted to us, to lose themselves in the pleasure that we create. I had almost forgotten what it was like to be with another of my kind."

She places a finger on his lips and shakes her head then cuddles up to him. Edward smiles and pulls her close, realizing that he had been about to break the spell that surrounded them. He forces everything back and simply allows himself to enjoy the moment. He knows that he cannot lay there forever, that she must be taught how to use her powers.

After a while he begins to tell her more about her powers, how to use and control them more than she already does. They barely pause an hour later while she's getting dressed. Leona has surprised him with how quickly she has learned to deal with her powers, with how comfortable she is with herself. Though it has been a long time since he's seen another of his kind created, maybe they're all this quick.

He feels oddly bereft when she leaves but refuses to dwell on it. Once again he leaves the house to walk only this time he knows where he's headed. The night before he had found a small clearing in the middle of heavily wooded government land. No one will come to disturb him as he communes with the gods and seeks out his own peace. Having Leona around is only reminding him of what he's lost.

Once again Leona returns home late, only this time she's sneaking in through her bedroom window. It's not that high up from the ground but it's daunting. She stands at the bottom of her window for a minute trying to think of the safest and quietest way to get back up to her room. Finally she decides to just crawl in, not really caring if she makes any noise.

Letting out her breath she reaches up, grasps hold of the window sill, and raises herself up and over. She collapses on the floor, her back against the wall. She's breathing heavily from the fact that she had snuck around her parents and gotten away with it. The rush that the knowledge of her rebellious behavior gave her was almost better than her time with Edward. Almost.

Slowly she forces herself to stand and put the screen back on the window then close and lock it. Wouldn't want someone to sneak into her room. She throws off her clothes as she makes her way towards the comfort of her bed and climbs in. She doesn't bother to put any pajamas on, her body can barely stand the feel of cotton sheets and blankets.

All night she drifts in and out of sleep, the high of the night before had faded enough to let her sleep but her own mind wouldn't give her peace. She rose bright and early a few hours later, even before the sun, feeling as if she hadn't slept at all. She hopes that she'll get lucky and be able to get a good night's sleep some time in the future.

She goes through her backpack and finishes up any homework that she has, even going so far as to clean her room. She hadn't cleaned it this good in a month and she likes to keep things clean. She goes through her daily routine on automatic as her mind wanders in thought about Edward and what she should do today.

She remembers Edward's words about toning down and his instructions on how to do so. She would work on that at school, maybe play around with it and see what happens. She also remembers what he had said about having Kevin come to his house that night if he shows up at the store again.

She feels for certain that he will. With her mind in Kevin's during most of the day she knows that he always comes to the store after school. She had severed the link between them when Edward told her it existed, so she can't feel his thoughts this morning. It feels odd. Being in his thoughts had felt right, like she belonged there.

She vaguely remembers getting on the bus and talking to Carin, her mind still distracted and the world around her feels like a dream. After last night and coming to terms with what she is now being around others makes her feel as if she's in on some joke. The joke is that she's no longer human but they haven't changed. She can remember when she had wished for things to be different, when she had wanted to be different. Now she just wants to be back on the other side of the glass. It was a lot safer being on the inside looking out. There is no security on the outside.

Right before getting off the bus she does as Edward had instruction and constructs a wall around herself. She builds it up of concrete and rocks, willing everything inside. And then she's out of the bus and walking toward the building. No one looks at her, no one notices her at all, the same as always. Inside the building she gets the same reaction she's gotten since she was born. Nothing.

Then she lets the walls down a little at a time and notices as heads start to turn towards her. Just as quickly she builds the walls back up and they look away. Leona smiles, liking the effect she's having and wonders what else she will be able to do.

Leona and Carin go their separate ways for class and she finds herself looking for Kevin in the crowd of kids. She doesn't see him until lunch, he's in a corner of the room joking with the nerdy kids. Her school is separated into groups; there are nerds, they're smart but completely obsessed with computers and games. Popular kids, which need no introduction. Smart kids, nasty kids, and those who do not fit into a category. She would probably fit in with the smart kids but Carin is her best friend so they hang with the nonconforming group.

She breathes a sigh of relief when the bell rings and they're released. She forces herself to act normal and not bring any attention to herself but what she really wants to do is run straight to the store to see if Kevin will show up. She knows that she shouldn't do it, shouldn't involve him in her strange new life. At the same time she's also excited to have someone to share her new life with.

Again she finds herself running on automatic as the bus slowly makes its way toward her house. She chats with Carin, but knows that she won't be able to tell anyone what was said because she can't concentrate on anything. It feels like an eternity before the bus drops her off at the house. She practically flies inside and throws on something for work; black cotton dress pants with a red brocade shirt that has black lotus blossoms embroidered on it.

She pulls her hair back in a ponytail braid, wanting to stay cool as the temperature has turned warm for the day. Finished dressing, she goes outside to meet her mother.

Leona's mother doesn't say anything as she slides into the passenger seat and they take off for the store. Her mind shifts again and she's thinking about what she'll do if Kevin shows up. What if he doesn't show up? She can't see that happening but it's always a possibility and maybe the best for him. She has the feeling that once she gets a hold of him there will be no going back for either of them.

In a way she doesn't think that it's fair, dragging more people into this but she's not sure if she has the willpower to stay away. To tell Kevin to stay away. She is still high on the new Leona. They enter through the back and she goes straight to work cleaning the isles. Today isn't quite as crowded which means that she has to find things to keep busy, even cleaning the isles.

After what seems like only a few minutes, though by the clock on the wall it had been several hours, her mother comes up and tells her that it's time for her break. She smiles gratefully.

"Thanks. I'm ready for a change of scenery."

"Yes, after yesterday we're really slow."

"Tell me about it."

She laughs softly and makes her way to the back. Just as she's about to enter the backroom she spies Kevin to her left, he's looking at the cereal rack. Her heart speeds up at the sight of him and she knows now that she'll give him the note to meet her later at Edward's. She wants to know everything about him, she wants to own him. She only got a hint of things yesterday, a few random thoughts and emotions.

Leona forces herself to keep going to the back, forces herself to take the required break. But while she's there, she tears a piece of paper from a notebook that had been left behind and writes on it the address of Edward's house and tells Kevin to meet her there at midnight. She feels like her heart is in her throat as she walks back into the store. She can't see him at first and wonders if he had gotten smart and left, but no, he's moved more to the other side near the frozen foods.

Taking a deep calming breath she walks toward him. She doesn't want to ruin this or scare him off so she tries to be careful on how she approaches him. But when she's standing next to him all reason leaves her.

"Kevin."

"Huh?"

He turns around and she slips the folded note in his hand and hurries off. She doesn't wait to see if he opens and reads it. She forces herself to go back and hide in the isles. I'll just have to wait and see what he decides to do. If he doesn't show up I won't approach him ever again. Leona hates waiting, she's been waiting all her life for something to happen and she's tired of waiting.

She almost screams aloud when her father turns the key to lock the store up for the night. She can feel the night, the shadows, close in on her as if sensing her need to be gone from the store. Tonight she gets to ride with both her parents. The Escort hadn't wanted to start for her dad so it had been sent to the shop and they had the pleasure of riding in her mother's car, while she drove.

Her mom's driving makes her dad nuts. He always says she drives too fast and doesn't watch what's happening around her. All Leona knows is that she feels a year older each time she gets out of the car every time she rides with her mom. Which means a year off of her life for every day since she was fourteen.

That's a lot of years, which means that she's going to die young and within the next couple years. That is if her driving were that potent, which in reality it isn't. She anxiously sits through dinner and can't help but wonder when dinner together has become more of a chore for her. She can't remember when it had truly been family time.

Her parents always end up talking about the store, any news about school or a friend gets put on the back burner when they start discussing work. Unless she's done something wrong and then she's the hot subject of the day. That doesn't happen too often. She doesn't mind it though, the store gets them enough money to live well on. But there are days when a girl just wants her family.

With patience she walks to her room after dinner, after all the dishes are washed and put away and the food is stored. With patience she sits on the edge of the bed, refusing to let herself pace, and waits for her parents to fall silent in their room. She's practically in tears by the time she can hear nothing but her own breathing.

Leona takes the screen off the window and slides out. Staying low until she's a block away then walks briskly to Edwards house. It's a little after eleven, she knows because the alarm clock in her room had said it was eleven when she slipped out the window. She's so anxious about Kevin showing up that she almost misses her destination.

She doesn't bother to knock, knowing that the door is unlocked, and walks in shutting the door behind her. She sits down on the couch but can't stand it and starts pacing. Edward is standing in the doorway to the kitchen, smiling at her obvious nervousness.

"I take it that something exciting happened today."

"Kevin showed up at work and I gave him the note to meet me here at midnight. So now I have to wait and see if he'll show up."

"Settle down. Why don't you sit down before you wear a hole in the floor?"

"Sorry…"

She sits back down on the couch but finds that she fidgets horribly. Oh well, you can't win them all. Right?

Edward sits down next to her and places a plate on the coffee table, on it are two sandwiches. She forces herself to be calm and when it fails she makes herself look at Edward. He's wearing a deep yellow t-shirt and well worn jeans and he feels as though he hasn't fed tonight. That bit of knowledge makes her a little nervous. Why hasn't he fed yet? He know something he's not saying, does he?

"Hungry? They're really good." He says, offering her a sandwich.

She takes it on impulse and thanks him, taking her time in eating it. Her eyes stay glued to the kitchen, where the red digits of the microwave clock mock her. Time seems to slow down to a crawl as she pleads with it to hurry and move.

She doesn't want to have Kevin come, doesn't want to endanger him by bringing him closer into her new life. Yet at the same time she's eager to have someone her age to talk to. She wants to be able to have a conversation with someone who knows what she is. She just wants to be able to talk to someone who actually cares. Someone who isn't pretending, or trying to get something as she believes is the truth with Edward.

Before she knows it it's after midnight. She stares at the clock as it ticks away, when it's five minutes past she gets up and walks to the front door. Leona looks through the peep hole and finds only an empty night.

"Maybe he decided not to come…"
