Ch.19 Job finished

The three pretty girls said goodbye and left after they each kissed Jax on the cheek, thanking him for protecting them for the few days they were together. Simply smiling back, Jax looked at them leaving before resting back on the couch while Sara finished packing her stuff.

He thought back to those few days enjoying the time at the beach. He had fought two battles, one with a group of random dark mages, which didn't count for much. However, the second fight had taken a lot out of him, and he had finished all bruised with cracked ribs and bloodied. This fight was with a weak A-rank mage from one of the four dark guilds. Jax believed that they wanted to take revenge, but he thankfully managed to stop him and knock him down.

The reason he had been so bloodied and beaten up was that the A-rank mage had decided to use explosive lacrimas at him. Had it not been for him to quickly cover the distance with a speed boost of his fairy magic, he would've had difficulty surviving the encounter. Luckily, the same mage wasn't that good in single combat, and the only reason he was an A rank mage was that his magic had a significant effect on a large crowd of people. In the end, Jax had managed to take him down. Not only did he get quite a bit of loot from the dark mage, but when he brought him to the branch of the magic council, he learned that there was a bounty on his head.

The A-rank dark mage he had brought back was the master of the Lost Hell dark guild. While it had a great name, it was a subpar dark guild without a single S-rank mage in its ranks. However, being the master of a dark guild and the status of an A-rank dark mage were both worth a bounty. And so, Jax made extra money in this job. The loot from the mage was a total of 243,500 Jewels, 73 remaining explosive lacrimas, a sword which was named ghost sword if he was to go by the name on the guard of the blade and a bounty worth 400,000 Jewels. All this together rewarded more than the job itself. However, Jax confirmed that he didn't plan on taking another such job anytime soon as it was pretty hard to stay alert 24/7.

While waiting for Sara to prepare her stuff, Jax got up and played a bit with 'Ghost.' He could confirm that this was an extraordinary magical weapon. When fighting, the sword could phase through the defence of the opponent at will. While it seemed incredible, it was also perilous. After all, if the opponent tried to hit the sword while it phased out and became like a ghost, the enemy's sword could also traverse through it, leaving him open to attacks. (A.N: Exactly like the sword of Eugene in Sword Art Online in Alfheim Online)

Although it was a good weapon, he didn't like it very much. Anyway, with his skills in weapons, he didn't need such a trick to get rid of his opponents. However, he previously didn't have a sword strong enough for him. So, this sword would do for the moment.

Looking backwards at Sara, who had all of her luggage, Jax smiled and extended his shadow to store it. The young lady smiled at this magic show before they left the villa and went to the port. It was 1:30 in the afternoon when they left, and they arrived at the boat around ten minutes before the departure.

When they arrived on the boat, they immediately made their way to their cabins. Jax searched Sara's compartment first as he had gotten more cautious after all of those attacks. After confirming that everything was fine, Jax walked to his cabin, searched it like Sara's and ensured that everything was fine.

While he went back to Sara's cabin to give her back her luggage, Jax sat on her bed while waiting for the ship to start. He was planning to do a complete search of the boat once they left the port to confirm that there weren't any enemies on board, which would save him a lot of trouble. He couldn't do so much previously with his sound magic, but now that he found a pearl and increased his sound magic proficiency, he could search it quite easily.

And so, when the ship left port, Jax used his sound magic to search every single cabin on the boat, whether it was the passengers, the captain or the various sailors, he listened to their conversation. He knew that they would immediately talk once the ship left port to communicate with each other. And as he thought, Jax found two groups of dark mages on board the vessel. Moreover, they were a few cabins apart from Jax's and Sara's. Thankfully, they were once again some small goons. Unfortunately, he would have to get rid of them once again. However, after all those fights, he understood that as a mage, one should be ready for death at any moment, and so, he didn't feel bad about it anymore.

Communicating his findings with Sara, Jax went back to his cabin while increasing the sound magic in the corridor and Sara's room to make sure nothing went wrong. In this way, Jax and Sara stayed in their cabins and ate some food prepared in advance.

When night arrived, Jax left his cabin quietly and made his way to the two groups of mages he had targetted. The first group of mages, a few lodges next to his own, also seemed to get ready to get into action. However, before they could react, Jax plunged them into darkness. With the young boy stopping the sound from travelling in this cabin, no one else on the ship would be able to hear them. Using his nature magic, he grew a twig on his shoe and made it go under the door to unlock it. A few seconds later, Jax was inside the room with three dead mages. Going to the cabin next to it, Jax did the same thing and killed four mages. They were part of the same group of dark mages.

He collected the money they had and used his dark magic to store the bodies inside of it. Moving to the next group of dark mages who had gotten on the ship, Jax did the same he just did and collected their bodies, leaving no trace of their existence on the ship. With a loot of 73,000 Jewels in total, Jax was quite disappointed but laughed at himself. After all, he had gained a lot on this trip, and he shouldn't ask more than that.

He then climbed up on the ship's deck, and while using his darkness and sound magic, he got rid of the dark mage's bodies along with their luggage, letting them disappear from the ocean surface with his water magic. As he looked at them disappear, Jax didn't have many expressions on his face. They were dark mages. They chose to be dark mages, to kill, to assassinate, to rape, to work in slavery. They had to know that at some point, they would be arrested or killed. Jax didn't feel much about it and simply went back to his cabin to sleep.

This way, the ride on the ship went well, and they arrived slightly in advance on Divide island. On the pier, Jax could see M.Rais along with a big group of bodyguards waiting for the ship to dock.

It didn't take much time as Jax and Sara climbed down from the ship and arrived on the pier in front of M.Rais, who seemed happy to see her daughter again. "Sara! Are you okay? I heard about the abduction request and the price they offered for you." The older man said while looking at Sara.

"Yes, I'm right. We discovered that the price had increased on the ship when we were going to Caelum, and we discovered the second increase in price after a week at the villa. However, even with the price increase, Jax took care of all the dark mages. The vacations were fun, and I can't wait to go back next year." She said while smiling happily.

She then started to walk towards her mansion while accompanying her father. Jax had no choice but to follow them as he still hadn't been paid for the completed job.

Arriving at the mansion, Jax sat on a chair in the living room and waited for M.Rais and Sara to complete whatever they were doing. Jax simply took out the young lady's luggage and left them next to him while bringing out his book to read. Jax figured that by the time he arrived at the guild, he would have finished it.

Half an hour later, as Jax was starting to get tired of waiting, Sara and her father arrived back in the living room and went to sit with Jax. "Sorry for having taken this long. Here is your payment. In the beginning, the job was simply a D-rank job, and I paid 240,000 Jewels. However, we can both agree that this was an A rank job. I decided to give you a million Jewels instead, which was the price on Sara's head.

Moreover, I heard from Sara that you like celestial spirit gate keys. I have a few here I wish to give to you. What do you think?" Asked the older man with a smile as he took ten 100,000 Jewels money bills and a small case with ten silver celestial spirit gate keys.

With a smile, Jax nodded. He liked the gate keys a lot more than the money. After all, while he could quickly get cash from completing jobs, there was a limit on the celestial spirit gate keys. "Well, thank you. I believe it's my cue to leave as I still have to make my way back to Fairy Tail today. I hope you have a great day." Jax said while getting up and nodding at the father and daughter.

"Thank you for guarding me for the two weeks. It was more dangerous than I thought it would be." Sara and Jax smiled as she thanked him for the service rendered.

"Would you mind if we asked for you if we have another job in the future?" Asked M.Rais as Sara told him everything that happened on the trip.

"It was my pleasure, Sara, and it would be my pleasure to work with you again in the future," Jax said as he smiled and turned away while lifting his left hand to say goodbye to the duo.
