On The Run Month One

I got up and got dressed for work just like any other day or at least that's the way it looked. I even walked down to the bus stop like I normally did. Everything was normal to everyone. And that's the way I needed it to be.

I had thought about leaving the ring in my room but Sara made a good point. If I did that they would know something was wrong. Then she suggested I put it in the safe and save it to sell later if I needed to. It was a great idea so that's what I did.

Work was a great day. No stupid people in the water So my day was just fine. Another bright point for my day was I got to see my sexy stranger again. He showed up at about ten this morning. And let me tell you the way he walked up and down the beach for the hour he was here. I felt like he was doing it just for me. It was like he was on a run way. And let me tell you when he bent over to pick up a shell, the view of his butt was amazing. Oh he had a very nice butt indeed. And I really enjoyed the show. Then he got in the water. I couldn't stand it, I was never so happy in my life when Sara came by to give me my break. First I casually pointed him out to her then I went down and got in the water. I didn't get to close but I did swim with him. I smiled the rest of the day. Sara thought he was cute to.

So when my shift ended I changed and left. Instead of going home I went to a small camp ground just over the Oregon border. Everything was quiet till about eight that night when my phone started to ring off the hook. The only call I answered was Sara's. She told me to use the other phone from now on and not to come in tomorrow. What ever pull they had in town they were already using it a lot. There were cops at her house now instead of twenty-four hours from now. They were going all out here. I told her I wouldn't move till she called me again. Then we hung up and I took the phone apart. Since I knew it could be tracked but wasn't sure how I buried all of the pieces in different areas. Then I went to bed.

The next morning I got a text from Sara saying I was on permanent vacation. They had people watching the beach.

So after answering the text I sat down and thought about the next month. Since I had planned on working I had to rethink my food supply and entertainment. So to start with I went for a walk. First I found a river about a quarter of a mile from where I parked so I decided to move over there. But first I had to go to the little town five miles up the road and get supplies.

As I pulled into town I noticed they had one of the tiny little Wal-Marts and a nice second hand book store. So I went to both places.

I went to the book store first. There were only two other people in the store so I felt secure enough to take my time. I got a dozen different books, two puzzles, and a couple of different word search books, and believe it or not I got some coloring books as well.

At Wal-Mart I did not feel as secure so I tried to get in and out in ten minutes. For starters I parked over where the employees parked. Then I ran in for some fruit, some sandwich stuff, some travel size cereal, a few small bottles of milk, some water, some packets of kool aid you pour into the water, and chips. Then I ran over grabbed some color crayons, pencils, pens, a pencil sharpener, some yarn, and a few crochet hooks. As I walked by the electronics department I grabbed a Garth Brooks box set, a few more books, a portable CD player, some batteries, and got the hell out of there. It actually to me fifteen minutes to get out of there because the lines were slow moving and I am bad at impulse shopping so I got more batteries, head phones, some candy, and a couple of flashlights just in case.

After I got out of there I went back to my camp site by the water. Once there I got everything put away. I put the extra batteries and head phones in my safe. Everything else went into the coolers and totes. Then I grabbed a book and settled down to wait.

The next day I waited to hear from Sara. I really started to get worried, I figured she would have called around 5:30 p.m. or so but she didn't. I almost called her a few times, but she said not to. It was almost midnight when she called. I was so relieved to hear her voice. She told me my mother came to see her as well as the police. And she told everyone she had no idea where I was. We did it that way on purpose that way she would be safe and couldn't get into trouble for withholding the truth. Then she told me she was being followed all day so she figured it was best to wait before she called me. I told her once again I was sorry to drag her into this. She told me not to worry about it, she was happy to help keep me away from these nut jobs. Then she said she should let me go and she would call me at the end of the week with an update. And I should get comfortable and wait. If I ran into any trouble just text. I agreed we hung up and I went to bed.

The next morning when I got up I realized it was still winter and in Oregon, its colder than California. There was actually snow on the ground. I was okay with it I slept in the van anyway and the blankets I got were all weather so I was warm enough. So I stayed inside all day. I worked on a puzzle, I worked on a blanket, I did some reading, I did some coloring, basically did a little of everything. I did go our side and stretch every so often but I didn't go far since I didn't want to leave tracks. And this was the pattern for the rest of the week.

As the end of the week came and went. Then the second week came and went I really started to get worried. I tried messaging Sara but it came back as undeliverable. I got up the nerve to call but the number was out of order. Now I started to panic. How could the phone be out of order? What could have happened to her? I hate my mother for all of this. I really don't want to risk going back because I don't know if I will be able to get away again if I get caught. I try to relax and I hope Sara is okay and I plan my day.

The snow is gone and the weather is in the tv's so I decided to go for a swim. The water is a bit chilly but its nice, so I don't stay in it long but it does help relax me. After I get out I decide I need supplies and need to get rid of the trash so I head to Wal-Mart.

As I get ready to leave the phone rings. I don't know what to do because I don't know the number. After it goes to voicemail I call it to see who it was. The message was from Sara and I was so relieved. So I wait for her to call back. When she does I get some wild news.

So I get told there is both good news and bad news. I ask for the good news first. Right now both my mother and Steven's father are in the hospital. They were in a car accident, everyone is fine but they will be in there for a week. At once I am both happy and sad. I don't want anyone hurt, but this means they won't be out looking for me either. Next she tells me my sexy stranger has been at the beach a few times and asked about me yesterday. I was shocked, amazed, and happy that he asked about me. Sara told him there were family issues and I was on leave, and it was true. Then she gave me the bad news. Last week the phone somehow got lost. She always kept it in the same place and she didn't program anything into it so we were okay there. But when she found it the next day it was in the upstairs bedroom. The problems with this is that is a bedroom she never usually keeps it in her desk drawer in her office. So she destroyed the phone and waited to call. From there she tells me she is still being followed. The cops have stopped coming around so the guy parked outside has to be a private detective. She can't manage to shake him for that long, he's that good. She wanted to get together but didn't think that was a good idea with him around. She asked how I was. So I told her about the snow, and what I have been working on. She thought it was a good idea that I try to stay as busy as possible. She told me not to worry that she was okay. She would call when she could but she would always leave a message first then call back. I agreed, we hung up and then I headed to Wal-Mart.

Everything was going well when I got there. I got everything I needed and wanted in the ten minute time frame I set up. This time I used the self check station and made it out so much faster. Unfortunately it wasn't till I was on my way out the door that I noticed I was being followed. He had a picture in his hand and kept glancing at me. I knew this wasn't good. Luckly several people decided to leave at the same time and he got pushed to the back of the line while I was in the front. When I got outside I ran for the van. I threw everything inside pushed the cart out of the way and got the he'll out of there. I didn't go back to my camping spot right away instead I went to the next town over and drove around for a while. Finally I stopped for gas and decided to go to a new camp site. This one is on the other side of Grants Pass so I am now half way into Oregon. This camp site I had only been to one time with my dad so it was a little hard to find in the dark. Once I parked I killed the engine and just waited. After ten minutes nothing moved, nothing happened so I figured I was safe for now. So I climbed in back and put everything away. The next day I didn't do anything, I was afraid to move. When nothing happened I found the creek and moved over by it. This time I decided to do some fishing so I didn't have to go into town quite as often.

The next week was very quiet. I did a lot of fishing. A bit of swimming. I went into town at 5:00 a.m. on wensday. Wal-Mart was the only store open at that hour and it was empty. This time I took my time but I watched everything. I got more yarn, more color books, and a few other things for entertainment. Then I went over and got my food items. Then I went down the road to the 24 hour laundry mat and washed my clothes. After that I stopped and got breakfast then went home.

Once I got back I had to go through and reset the van. I got everything neat and put in the boxes then I settles down and relaxed.

And that's how my first month in hiding ended. Yes I was a bit bored and I missed my job but at least I was safe.
