Chapter 19

On the entire day, XuWei pretended like he didn't know his father at all. After the class ended, XuWei immediately pulled Xiao Bai to head to the orchid room.

So Ruo Lan and Ming xue was left to pack their masters' things.

While going out and heading towards the front gate, Ming xue asked Ruo lan.

"Ruo-xiong, I know you're in the emperial guards. And I have this feeling since the first day. Is WeiXu the crown pr—.." Before he could finish the word prince Ruo Lan blocked his mouth with both hands while looking around.

Ming xue removed his hands and continued to walk like nothing happened. Ruo Lan caught up to him with heavy steps like a child throwing tantrums, "How can you be so calm while saying such things?" he scolded Ming xue.

He thought that since they made up Ming xue will go back to his cheerful self but he was mistaken. Ming xue became more bold, unpredectable, and black-bellied.

Ruo lan could only admit defeat infront of such a man, " Anyway, why do you want to know?"

Ming xue, "Xiao bai came to this school to seek His highness and obtain a strong backer."

Ruo lan, "why would he need a backer? Is he in some kind of trouble?"

"He is trying to win back his kingdom." This might be a big news but it was also necessarily a hidden thing so Ming xue was not afraid to disclose the information to Ruo Lan.

However Ruo Lan was surprised. With wide eyes and opened mouth in disbelief he asked, "So wang bai is some kind of heir? But when I ran and did some investigation.." Ruo Lan immediately closed his mouth and hit his head for running about.

"What do you mean investigation?" Ming xue stopped at his tracks.

Ming xue felt something was odd, but the reasoning is acceptable so he didn't pry anymore. "Of course you won't. The Lin concubine of Wang kingdom said that the young master is dead. Ruo Lan, "Then, are you thinking of telling Wang Bai about His Highness?"

Going back to Xiao Bai and XuWei.

They are currently walking towards the Orchid room much more easier since they already know the way. When they arrived, Zhou Zhineng was on his table copying some books.

Zhineng calles out to them and he smiled, "Master Qin, Master Wang. Please have seat."

Zhineng then stood up and lead them to the back of the orchid room where the garden was. The garden was full of white pebbles and there are racks of flowers with different kinds. There are orchids, chrysanthemum, roses, lilac and many more.

In the center of the garden was a white stone table surrounded by four stone chairs as well. It was an open area so they could enjoy the fresh scent of flowers and a nice weather.

The secretary that entertained them last time brought them tea and peaches then excused herself.

"Enjoy your tea." Zhineng invited them.

Xiao bai and Xuwei tasted the tea. "This is chrysanthemum tea?" Xiao Bai asked and drank more.

Zhineng smiled then proudly said, "Yes. And it was fresh from this garden."

Xuwei, "So that's why its so flavorful. The aroma is also relaxing. I guess the peaches are also harvested from the schoolyard?"

Zhineng, "Exactly!"

Xiao bai took a peach and took a bite, "It's delicious."

Zhineng and Xuwei chuckled.

Zhineng, "Anyway, Teacher Yang have probably given you a heads up. We, the student union's comittee wants to train the two of you as a member. The union is consist of 7 members. The supreme president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, academic president, disciplinary president and spokesperson. Currently, there are 3 third years in the line up including me, the president, there is also the academics and disciplinary presidents. Usually, the next presidents of this three committee positions should be handed to second years but I think that the two you can achieve something spectacular f you start right off."

Xuwei, "President Zhou said earlier that the three are graduating this year. The supreme, academic, and disciplinary presidents. Then that means that the vice is an incoming third year and will take the position of the president? May I know who?"

Zhineng, "Yes. Apart from the three presidents the remaining four are all second years, the vice president is Yang LianHua."

XuWei, "The third daughter of headmaster yang."

Zhineng, "Yes. Although she is a Yang, she never flaunted her surname. She's also really cheerful and friendly, and have the wits when it came to serious matters."

Xiao Bai and Xuwei nodded in agreement.

Xiao Bai, "Then president Zhou, the second years will take up the position of the president so the treasurer and secre—.."

Before he could finish what he was saying Zhineng laughed. Xiao Bai and XuWei looked at him, confused.

Zhineng, "I'm sorry. I think the both of you don't expect such a thing. But we all agreed to put you on the academics and disciplinary committee president."

WHAT!!!

They we're in disbelief at what they've heard. Xiao Bai immediately retorted, "But president Zhou, you mentioned that the president positions are given to incoming third years only. Why all of a sudden?"

Zhineng, "And I also said that it's better for the both of you to start early so you could do more. And it doesn't mean that you are the highest position there is, even though your are a president in your own committee, you are still under the supreme president, which is the leader of all. That's why it's called the Student union committee."

XuWei was still also flustered but his face was still calm, "What about the second years? Won't they disagree with this?"

Zhineng, "Don't worry about it. The day is not yet confirmed but there will be a discussion this week, and the both of you will meet the members then we could also plan about the membership announcement."

Xiao bai sighed in defeat, "Seems like president Zhou already planned it all out. Can we still decline?"

Zhineng cheerfully said, "No."

Xiao Bai could only give up, "Figures. Anyway, I gladly accept." It's also beneficial for me so no harm done.

XuWei seeing that Xiao Bai accepted the task then he also accepted it, "I also accept."

Zhineng stood and the duo also did. Then they shake hands to seal it off, "Nice cooperation with the both of you."

While going back, Xiao Bai and XuWei was walking side by side.

XuWei, "Bai-er, wait." [1]

Xiao bai stopped at his tracks and faced XuWei not minding the sudden intimate nickname that escaped the other's mouth, "What is it?"

XuWei has been hiding this on his back and now he is giving it, "This." He revealed it and it was a rare orchid that he saw on the garden earlier.

"How did President Zhou let you pick this?" Xiao Bai asked, disbelief evident in his voice.

XuWei, "Look carefully."

Xiao Bai was rather surprised and couldn'r help but exclaim, "It's not picked. You asked for the whole plant?"

XuWei, "Yes. And you should plant it on your courtyard."

Xiao bai was of course confuse and couldn't help buf ask, "Why are you giving me this?"

XuWei then closed his eyes for a second then cited a poem verse, "The orchids grow in the woods and they let out their fragrance even if there is no one around to appreciate it. It's like you don't you think?"

"...." Xiao Bai was speechless and was at lost on how to react.

XuWei saw his silence and took this chance to tell somw trivia, "The blue orchid represents spirituality and contemplation. And of course, rarity. Because the color blue itself is associated with peace and tranquility. Blue orchids specifically represent power, beauty and peace."

"I know the meaning of it. But what do you mean by "The orchids grow in the woods and they let out their fragrance even if there is no one around to appreciate it." why would you say I'm like that?"

As someone from a modern world, some people are very avid about meanings of flowers. So Xiao Bai knew what the orchid symbolized however he was confused at Xuwei comparing him to the said flower and quoted Xuwei's line.

XuWei looked straight into Xiao Bai's eyes then in said in full seriousness, "Because you're rare and hard to find. But you still bloom even though no one could appreciate it."

Xiao bai was taken back by his vague definition, "Why would you say so?"

XuWei, "I just felt that someone casted you out while you are still growing. And that someone didn't get to witness the most fragrant moments of your life where you bloomed fully and beautifully."

Xiao bai didn't know but he suddenly thought of his past lover, former friend, and relatives. Yes they casted Xiao Bai out. But why did his heart keep telling him that is was not them but was someone else instead. Someome more important and dear to him.

Xiao bai just shrugged the uneasiness in his heart and thanked XuWei for the orchid. He also promised to take care of it. He also started to think why XuWei keeps giving him flowers and of blue and white at that.

Maybe because his name is Xiao Bai. And like the theme of the snow, he also like this combination of colors. And really it did suite him best.

Er- a kind of endearment in a very cute way. In thus case Xuwei was like calling Xiao Bai as Bai Bai (Bai-er)

Author: Why can't you just give him a red rose directly?

Xuwei: I can't. It would be too obvious.

Author: Then why are you giving him flowers two time in a row.

Xuwei: I just thought, the flowers are coincidentally just like him so I give it to him. It was also a warm up if he is opening up to me or not.

Author: Oh so you're finally listening to me.

XuWei: Of course. But I promise to let him wear a red phoenix robe on our wedding day.

Author: You won't let him wear a blue or white robe?

XuWei: A red robe is a must. But the venue will be themed as white, blue, and red.

Author: Oh so you're already planning the wedding?
