Chapter 47

Lakota's POV

Once I opened my eyes, I immediately regretted it. Snapping them back closed, protecting myself from the blinding lights above. I could hear the constant beeping noise to the right of my head which was making my headache worse. I wiggled my fingers and toes making sure I was still in one piece when I hurled the hushed whispers. I tried to block it out the best I could but it was no use. As it started getting louder my anger started to rise, causing me to bark my order, "SHUT UP AND LEAVE MY ROOM NOW!" The voices stopped for a few minutes before there was shuffling and the click of a door being closed.

I could tell that I wasn't alone but they weren't speaking so I didn't mind. After a few more minutes of silence, I tried to open my eyes again. This time the lights didn't seem as bright as they originally did which I was extremely grateful for. It was the clearing of a throat that brought me back to the present. I turned my head towards the new noise and gasped at the sight. "Umm, who are you? Where am I?" I questioned. "I will answer your questions but just know that your Alpha command does not affect me. It will be best to watch your tone. I will not allow you to disrespect me. I understand that this is your territory but it is only because of my family and I that you are able to claim a territory and title as yours." She spoke calmly but clearly spoke with wisdom and power rolled out of her pores. "Yes ma'am. I understand. Now, will you please explain to me what is going on?" I questioned her.

"Yes, I will. But you need to get out of this bed and go deal with a few angry wolves. You have made a few enemies since you have been in your little trance." She says, holding out her hand for me. I reluctantly take it and rise from the bed and follow her out of my hospital wing. She leads me out of my packhouse and into the front yard that is full of fighting wolves. "Stop this war before you all lose the one thing you both are fighting for." This beautiful woman spoke before letting go of my hand and taking a step back. "ENOUGH!" I yelled with every bit of command I could muster. On cue, everyone took a step back and looked at me. My wolves bowing their heads before a chorus of "Alpha." Rang through the crowd.

"Lakota! Where is she?! Where is my mate!" Atticus growled as he stepped through the crowd of wolves, both his and mine. "Atticus she is not here. I just woke up, so I am not sure what is going on exactly. Please come in and we can discuss this calmly, brother." I spoke without a waver never showing fear of my hot-tempered brother. "We have not been brothers in a long time Lakota! Do not try and act like we are family. You stopped being family when you took Cain's mate away. Now you are trying to do the same with me. I will not allow you to destroy our family any more than you already have." He said distastefully causing me to flinch at his words. "Please brother, come inside and we can discuss this." I tried to reason. "Do not worry Atticus. I will be the mediator if need be, but I would rather not stepping in. There is a lot to discuss that you both need to hear and after you both speak and figure out where you stand as a family, I will fill you in on the rest." The woman spoke loud enough for everyone to hear her.
